Loving My Freestyle Libra 2 but have 1 problem

Hi Mark, I, too, am suffering from lack of audible alarms on my iPhone when using a new sensor. I have reported this to Abbott but no reply yet. I am hoping that it is a faulty sensor and a new one will give audible alarms again. I've downloaded new software to no avail. I don't want to replace...

    Low blood sugars

Hi t1d08, here is information from DAFNE. Usually 10g carbohydrate = 1CHO. Take 1 unit of fast acting insulin for each CHO at mealtimes. Take 1 extra unit fast if your BG is 2-3 over target, but only at meal times. Don't try to micro-manage by taking correction doses in between meals. If your...

Has anyone been able to recover their hypoglycemia symptoms?

Guys, you have to reset your "glucostat" (glucose measurement in the brain). Do this by at least two weeks of NEVER going below 3.5. Normal sweating symptoms will gradually return at around 4.5. Each time your blood glucose dips below 3.5, the brain begins to accept this as normal, so you lose...

Has anyone here been a diabetic for more than 40 years?

55 years and everything still works. I thank DAFNE for a changing my method of coping with the disease some years back.

    Just feeling a bit meh

Emma, have you tried a DAFNE course? This would help you to correct morning hypos and evening hypers. It sounds like you are reacting to high blood sugar in the evening by giving yourself too much of a correction dose. This leads to your morning hypos. All of us have struggled from time to time...

    It’s a struggle

DAFNE will give you so much more confidence. You learn to estimate CHO values when not able to weigh food and adjust doses on the fly depending on blood glucose tests. You MUST test blood glucose before meals and you will be able to alter the ratios of fast acting per CHO unit of food. it's a...

    It’s a struggle

I think that most firms will allow time off for this sort of course. Ask nicely. It would be in a firm's best interests to have a well-motivated and healthy employee rathe than one with see-saw blood glucose levels, liable to exhibit erratic behaviour.

    It’s a struggle

Emma, please ask your GP or hospital clinic for a place on a DAFNE course (Dose adjustment for normal eating). You will learn so much that you will wonder how you got by beforehand. I have had type 1 for 55 years and went on a course 15 years ago to try to correct poor control. It changed my...
