    Type 2 Insulin

I'm longstanding type 1 and been on Fiasp for a year now. Levemir also. I was put on Fiasp as I needed an insulin to work quickly for meals as I have high anxiety with blood sugar rises. Fiasp supposed to work within 10 minuites but for me up to 2 hours the same as my Novorapid. So it tells me...

Might Have Accidentally Taken Double Lantus Dose?

To prevent this you could use a pen cap with timer on it. I have been using a timesulin cap on both my levermir and short acting Fiasp. Tells you how long since you last removed the cap.

Anyone know the difference between too high basal insulin and bolus absobtion issues.

Hi, I've been type 1 for 56 years. I have Levemir on waking with small dose of short acting to counteract dawn phenomenon. I have 20g carbs about 12 midday and will take short acting Fiasp depending on blood sugars. I'm on Dexcome 6 and live alone so know your fears of hypo whilst alone. I...

Did you get a medal and if so how did you apply? I will be at my 50 years in six months so I am interested in how you can get the medal.

50 years with type 1 diabetes.

Well done. I am due to reach mine next October 2016. So far no major complications - still working fulltime and driving etc. I hope that they don't remove the medal before I get it! Like you I have had to work hard to be complication free. My dad diagnosed 2 years before me (1964) died in 1998...

    Type 1. Weight loss?

I have had type 1 for past 49 years. I am also hypothyroid, on statins and blood pressure tablets. Currently 4 stone overweight. Take Novo rapid when I eat carbs (sometimes need it to correct high blood sugars) and 2 background Levemir daily. I have been low carbing/high fat for last six months...

Which diet suits Overweight Type 1 - Low Carb High Fat or Mediterranean

Hi I am type 1 diagnosed over 48 years ago. Have generally been very well controlled - no complications to date BUT I have gained weight over last 10 years despite following low calorie diet (800 cals per day). I have recently started taking the bullet proof coffee and missing out breakfast but...

    Medical Exemption Certificate.

Hi, I have had type 1 since age 7 (1966). I am now 55 years old. I have always had a prescription exemption card though it has expired once or twice and caught me out. I am always asked to show my card when collecting prescriptions so I guess that helps me to keep a track on when it expires.

Rise in blood sugars after waking

Thank you for your replies. My biggest battle to shift the insulin induced weight gain so I am trying to really cut back on the amount of short acting I need to inject to try and counter it. I have read that taking protein can also turn to glucose so all that is left is fat. So I am trying the...

Rise in blood sugars after waking

Hi, I am a veteran type 1 of 48 years. However I have recently started to try and low carb as I need to lose some weight. On waking my blood sugars are well within normal range - 4.8 - 6.5. I miss out breakfast but take my long acting Levemir (taken as 2 shots am and pm). I am finding that from...

Alliebee, I have just been reading about your recommendations for bullet proof coffee. I have a question if you are able to answer. I have been a type 1 for 48 years (since age 7) I am very over weight but generally well controlled blood sugars and therein lies the problem. To date no...

Disposing of used pens and needles

How do most people dispose of used pens and needles? I have just found out that they count as biological waste. I have up to now put the needleless used pen with the lid on in the bin. Needles I have re sheaved securely and put these in the bin too. My GP refused to give me a sharps bin or any...
