    HBa1C results: slow and steady?

Updating here: the drs got v back to me to explain that as my cholesterol levels weren’t dangerously high, they thought it best to wait until next spring to retest (ie a year after my initial bloods were taken) as otherwise they felt there might be the possibility that I’d be over medicalised...

    Protein Bars

Yes, I agree. I tried them out of curiousity, g having heard about them on various places online. Everyday , I tend to use things like nuts etc as snacks.

    Protein Bars

Tried the bars again. Not too bad , I might try another of the flavours , though at that price it’ll be a ‘sometime treat,’ (to quote Cookie Monster!). One thing I did notice though, I’d a nasty headache. Coincidence? Maybe me reacting to obe of the ingredients?

    Protein Bars

Yes, those were the sweeteners in the bars I bought today. Rather confusing re the carb content then. 20g did seem a lot.

    Protein Bars

Well , I’ve just tried a Grenade high protein, low sugar protein bar and apart from it being expensive, I really don’t love it.tbh, I ‘d rather do without, which is what I’ve been doing these past months. I think that my liking for sweet stuff seems to have lessened with abstinence!

    Recommended Diet

Can I ask, what IS the NHS diet? When I was diagnosed with prediabetic levels back in May, I was definitely advised to cut carbs by the Gp surgery. I’m on one of the nhs diabetes prevention programmes with the plate recommendations of 1/2 vegetables, 1/4 protein 1/4 carbs, although to be honest...

    HBa1C results: slow and steady?

Does anybody know- in general is it routine to test non-HDL cholesterol levels at the same time as glucose levels. The hospital haven’t done this so presumably it wasn’t requested by the surgery either. (I’m going to check with them). As Rachox has said, I can’t make an informed decision about...

    HBa1C results: slow and steady?

So, last week’s test shows I’ve dropped from 45 back in May to 42 now, so still just within the prediabetes reference range. Slow and steady wins the race I guess and I have lost nearly two stone since then . Bugs me that they didn’t test my cholesterol levels though , so I’ve still got this...

    Statin

That said, we are 5 mins on foot from a road well-known for being …how shall we say? ‘Problematic,’ Maybe that has bearing on my result?

Cripes! And I thought we were affluent! So changed to the most well to do area of town and you’re right , it was lower! That said , I’d inputted my new, (nearly two stone lower weight) but until results of last week’s test come through, had to use my original levels.
