    So depressed

I'm so depressed I can hardly cope. :'( I've been carrying a problem around inside me because I feel I'm the only one and shouldn't feel like this, but I can't accept my diabetes. :( I never have been able to the whole 5+ years. I want to deny it, push it away. :'( My sugar is low, but it...

    Bad day but good result.

Hi Jeannemum, I know exactly how you feel. My oldest son is autistic, and we have had to go through years of tantrums. The reading after the choc, well don't understand that. Could have been the high stress you were in, or someone smiled down on you, after what you had been through. :)...

BBC news item with comments section

I also saw this on the BBC news this morning, and I felt angry and disheartened at how they were once again blaming T2 diabetes on obesity, as the cameras scanned peoples backsides as they walked down the street! And, now it looks like we are at fault for having complications! That's how it...

    Worried about eyesight!!

It's common to get blurred vision in the early stages of diabetes because of the BG levels being too high. Once you have brought your levels down, and they are stable, the blurriness should clear up. Even now, if I have a meal that spikes my sugar, I can still get blurred vision untill it comes...

    Eye concerns

My eye specialist told me that glaucoma has nothing to do with diabetes. I had a reading once of 23 in my left eye, and my optitian said that was ok and he wouldn't have done anything about it if it hadn't been for the Governments new guidelines, so he had to send me to the eye specialist...

    Metformin's Revenge

During the 5 years I've been on Metformin, I've tried 3 different brands. My GP put me on Glucophage, which I'm on now, but like the others I still get the runs, especially after my breakfast, but I never get the stomach upset or pains. Helena

Cramp - anyone else get it?

When you get cramp in your leg, try not to jump up and run about, you'll just end up with a badly bruised muscle. Stretch your heel forward as much as you can, and stretch your toes backwards, towards you. Hold it there and you'll soon start to feel your muscle relax. Since being a diabetic I...

Bad customer care at eye clinic dept

I'm having the same kind of problems with my eye clinic. My last appointment was on 28th Dec. My specialist said he wanted to see me in 6 weeks time. I went to the nurse's desk and she said she would send me an appointment by post. I waited, but no appointment. February came, so I rang the...

    Taking pre diabetes to far?

I think it should be law that GPs tell patients if they are prediabetic. If they're not told it takes away their right to try and prevent or slow down the full onset of diabetes. My uncle was told straight away, and because he adjusted his diet, he still isn't diabetic after 6 years. If you get...

LOW CARB DIET - A NEWBIES GUIDE

Re: Comments on Low carb diet - a newbies guide I heard a few weeks ago when these E petitions were briefly dealt with, that there has to be 100,000 sigs before the Government will accept them? Helena

Nhs bill and forthcoming privatisation of nhs

Well, I've believed for a long time now that the NHS will be privatized, and of course it will be the Thatcherite tories who will do it. I can easily see us all having to take out medical insurance, which of course will be high, infact I can see the Government making it compulsary! :evil...

About eating sweets and controlling sugars

Hi Veena, What medication are you on? If it's Metformin then no, you mustn't up your dose. It doesn't act like insulin. It acts over a certain period so if you ate sweets, it wouldn't bring your sugar down. I shouldn't eat sweets with sugar in them. There are sweets you can buy that are...
