    HBA1c reduction

Thanks JoKalsbeek, but I haven't done great over the christmas period and some bad habits slipping in. So being tough on myself about how much better I might have been if I stayed strict!

    HBA1c reduction

Hi, Not been on here for about 6 months. But my HBA1C went from 70 to 55 since last July. Nurses are really happy with this. I haven't been to see a consultant yet, 12 month waiting list. But the dieticians have now discharged me as they are happy with my diet and progress. J.

    Sourdough Bread

Hi, I've read that this can significantly lower blood sugars. Despite the fact it's white. Does anybody eat it?

    Just To Say Thanks...........

I’m in Ireland, everything moves notoriously slowly. He’s referred me to a clinic, and once they get in touch with me, I’ll be able to access a dietician. It’s working as it is for me now, so I’ll continue as I am til I see them.

    Just To Say Thanks...........

Just want to say thanks for all the tips and encouragement I was given here upon being diagnosed a few weeks back. It’s all alien to begin with, and the numbers and abbreviations are baffling. But since my diagnosis 5 weeks ago, I’ve totally cleaned up my diet. No crisps, chocolate, cakes...

    Weetabix And Spikes

It seems to be a pattern this week after breakfast. Maybe fruit and yogurt or toast would be the better option. I'll mix and match and see what works over the next week or two.

    Weetabix And Spikes

Okay, I’m pretty new to all this. Diagnosed 5-6 weeks ago. Started on 500mg Metformin once a day. I know that you have to test levels and at the start it’s all a learning curve to see what foods do and don’t make you spike. My fasting level today was 10. I had 2 weetabix, 200ml low fat milk...

    Today's Readings

I’m still getting it right with regard to drawing blood, or enough blood. So if I don’t, I reuse the lancet. But I never re-use the test strip.

    Today's Readings

Thanks Rachox. I had found those targets for type 2 just before I tested. I'm really really happy with that. I'll be having dinner in 2 hours now so I'll test again, and then 2 hours later.

    Today's Readings

So I've now got a new stash of lancets for testing and will try for some strips after work. Which means I can test more frequently. But as I got the new lancets at lunch time, I only tested before and after lunch today........... Breakfast.........2 hours later I had a snack..............2...

Still Getting My Head Around It

Still Getting My Head Around It

I've walked 5.5km before work today, and another 1.5 over lunch.

Still Getting My Head Around It

Okay I don't really have enough strips to test that often. I have to get them through my clinic, who I haven't been referred to yet.
