Low Carb / Low Calorie and Newcastle Diet

I'm unsure about the high fat part of the diet. I do have a history of heart problems and am worried about the effect of high fat on my heart.

    Sugar tax moan

I wasn't giving them a hard time, just asking the question why? As a customer I think that I have the right to ask. I wasn't rude or abusive.

    Sugar tax moan

Hi, I am becoming increasingly annoyed by shops and pubs raising the price of sugar free drinks to keep the price of 'full fat' varieties down. I have questioned staff in ASDA and our local pub about it. Isn't it defeating the whole reason for a sugar tax? Is this even legal?

    Statins and adverse symptoms

Medical Treatment is a 2 way process with you and your GP. You don't have to take meds if you don't agree. I take co-enzymeQ10 with my statin and it has really improved the muscle aches and pains.

    T 2 - Binge eating

I am struggling every day with binge eating and often try to starve myself to compensate. This is something I have discussed with my GP and Psychiatrist (recurrent depressive disorder) but don't feel that they are listening or taking me seriously. It has been a difficult year, my daughter was...

I have just switched to modified release metformin. However I can only tolerate one tablet a day. If I take more I feel ill and tired, but not on the scale of you. Hope your GP gets things sorted for you. Xx

Lots of conditions all related to diabetes.

Hi CatLadyNZ. I am on cpap, using nasal pillows. It's Ok but I find sleeping on my side, my preferred position, difficult. I generally sleep really well on it though and its good to know I'm not keeping the whole street awake. ;)

Lots of conditions all related to diabetes.

In November last year (2014), I was diagnosed with quite a few conditions linked to diabetes although I didn't know it at the time. I have a form of Angina that doesn't show up on ecg's, Sleep Apnea, high blood pressure and heart disease. It wasn't until I found this site that I understood how...

self-harming by overeating high carb food or sugar

I did this from diagnosis in November 2014 until 6 weeks ago. I was in denial and ate whole packs of chocolate bars and biscuits every night. I was lucky, it didn't appear to affect my Hba1c test results too much (type 2). Now I'm on track and have lots of support from my GP and Practice nurse...

    My dad's in denial.

Being diagnosed with diabetes is really scary. I was diagnosed in November 2014 and was in denial until about 6 weeks ago. I also suffer from severe depression so my GP tried the softly softly approach. It wasn't until my practice nurse turned tough, explained that I could go blind, lose a leg...

    I've Lost Weight on Metformin

Have been hoping my GP would put me on metformin as I've been told it helps you lose weight. Unfortunately she wants to see if I can control my diabetes with healthy eating.

    Feeling tired and run down

OOps sorry. I usually have all bran with fruit and milk for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and a low calorie ready meal for dinner with a fat free yoghurt. Believe me this is a huge improvement on the chocolate bars and crisps that I used to have. If I'm hungry I stick with fruit between...
