    Has This Happened To You?

I had normal bgl when lchf. I was on about 50/60 grms carb a day and my numbers were fine. It was only when I upped my carbs that the bgl went up. I am happy with that. My testing with the occasional scone showed that I was still very t2d. But something has shifted in the last few weeks. And it...

Afternoon all. I have not been on here for quite a while. Life just gets in the way! But without a doubt this forum has changed my life. I was dx last june, so just over a year. I went lchf, lost 6 st in 6 months and kept it at that level since Christmas. I was also dx as under active thyroid at...

    Cereal bars

i think jelly babies give the quickest hit. And you can buy the mini packs that hold just the right amount. But maybe ask over on the insulin page?

    Reusing lancets?

I wonder if they also make and sell lancets? There is a definite cash incentive to make us use as many as possible. I reuse until it gets blunt. I also use a cartridge, so not able to clean them. But they can just go into ordinary rubbish as there are no sharp points to injure anyone else.

    Is it possible??

When I low carb I have non diabetic numbers, except first thing in the morning. However, one national trust scone and I am right back up there. So not in remission but very well controlled. My last hba1c was 36, so the diabetic team at my surgery no longer want to have anything to do with me...

Can you eat anything with type 2 diabetes

The book that goes with the course is ok. It tries to take a balanced view of various approaches and gives lchf a positive thumbs up! It was the presenter that let it down. I don't think she had read the book!

    Low Carb Low Fat?

You can do it, if you have enough incentive. Its really the basis of the blood sugar diet, which restricts cals to 800 a day for 8 weeks. It does get the weight falling off, but its not doable long term. and you have to be careful about managing vitamins, minerals etc although if you only do it...

Can you eat anything with type 2 diabetes

I have just finished a "xpert" course for t2d. Shw said we can eat anything we like. But she also said test once a month, that we need to take metformin with food because it works directly on the food we eat and we can have up to 260 grms carbs a day. So I don't really believe she knows what she...

    Confused about Slim Rice

I really miss rice. I have cauli rice etc but not the same. This stuff is much more like rice and is mostly tasteless so is great with curry. I am not trying to lose weight now but I wish I had found this when I was watching the calories. Have not noticed any adverse effects. They definitely...

    Type 2 ?

Hello. There is a definite link between Hashimotos and t2d although the link is not understood. A huge study in India found that for those diagnosed at the same time with both things the t2d was better controlled when the hypothyroidism was well controlled. I have both conditions and my...

Just won a BG meter.. Update

Wow!! This is so much better than the xpert course I have just finished. Wonder if it will get taken up by the nhs? I am guessing not, as it doesn't seem to agree with current nhs advice or the useless eatwell guide.

    Eyes

When I first joined this site in June last year this was my first question! I was convinced I was going blind. As the others have said it is a "good" thing as your body adjusts to a new, better level of blood sugar. You may well need a new pair of glasses (I did) but wait until your tests have...

    Woman’s world

I eat a lot of flax, mainly in crackers. Didn't know about keeping it in the fridge. Its just kept on the shelf in the supermarket, so I suppose it must be spoiled already. Don't know if it helps with the t2d, but its low carb and tasty!!
