T1 - moving through the family

No one else in my family has type 1 and I was diagnosed aged 21 however a month before my diagnosis I had a bad ear infenction and always wondered if that triggered something as I have heared a virus could lead to it but it's never really known what causes type 1

    Need a friend??

I used to feel different but I have to learn I'm not, I'm on a pump so I just like to think I just have my pancreas on the outside rather than inside which I can get dig colours of covers on it, a non diabetic can't customise their pancreas [emoji13]

    Flu jab

It is very important to get the flu jab, I've had one every year for 6 years since I've been diagnosed, ur arm does feel heavy and achy for a day or 2 but generally I have felt fine and blood sugars have been fine but that's better than getting the flu itself being diabetic, good luck [emoji4]

    Type 1: Headaches from hypers

I just wondered aswell do u do some through the night testing? If you are hyping through the night you will wake up with a sore head which can last all day and ur blood sugars could be on the rebound (high) from going low

Help my daughter is Type 1, but wont take her insulin!

I started on the pump 2 years ago and it is the best thing I have done, the pump is a big commitment as you are wearing this machine 24/7 and you will have to monitor ur blood sugars even more, especially after every set change (which u do every 2-3 days) as there is a risk of ur canula being...

    Disability Discrimination Act

Ur employer does need to know about ur diabetes and what he/she should do if u ever become quite unwell with a hypo if you may not be able to treat yourself or where you keep you testing kit and hypo treatment if it's not near you, and you are right you will need a break and to check blood...

Poll: Which diabetes course(s) have you attended?

I was diagnosed in 2009, went on a dafne course in 2011, it changed my life for the better! Not only did I learn about carb counting to insulin and learning I could eat anything I want but I also got to know other type 1 diabetics and share their experiences as I knew nothing or anyone else a...
