I self fund Libre2+ for exactly the same reason.
Voice of my conscience.
Although there is a little touch of Don Camillo where it also whispers "Wow! Those numbers look good. Time for a little treat?" in my other ear.
I have often wondered why immunosuppressants are not considered for T1 on the basis that most T1 is due to your own immune system attacking your Beta cells.
Research a few years back revealed that there were "guerrilla" Beta cells disguising themselves as Alpha cells to try and avoid the immune...
I assume that you would have to go private for such measurements.
Diagnosis as T2 means that you are never offered a c-peptide test as standard.
It may come after a 20 year "honeymoon period" to confirm that your pancreas is no longer producing enough insulin (anybody had this?).
I paid for a...
It used to be a thing on here 10+ years back but not recently.
I know most T1s are not like that.
I think there used to be a lot of resentment from T1s because T2s got more attention because there were so many more of them.
I suspect it may be yoof in the early years of adulthood which...
Thanks @Rachox.
Just come back to this.
I tried to peel the label off my current pack but it went down fighting to the bitter end.
I am investigating available and unavailable B12 in the bloodstream in case this explains my tiredness.
I didn't even know that most of the B12 in your blood stream...
Do you follow Diabetes UK on Facebook? [Just being nosey.]
If not, can you remember where you saw it?
Just trying to work out if the communications strategy is working.
I found a thread at the end of January 2026 on the Facebook page, which I thought(!) I was following.
The responses seem to be T1s hating on T2s, which kind of proves their point.
I have been told that Diabetes UK (not this organisation) recently ran a media campaign over tackling the stigma associated with Diabetes.
I haven't seen it, so I wondered if anyone else had?
Thanks.
"if your beta cells are capable - mine weren't".
This is my concern.
I think I may possibly be slowly coming to the end of an 18+ year honeymoon period.
How did you confirm that you were LADA?
Antibody tests?
Or just Gliclazide failing to work effectively?
I may have a bit of a...
Thanks, very helpful.
If you came off it, was it because you had reduced your insulin resistance?
Which could imply that you were fully, perhaps over, producing insulin? So plenty of beta cells?
I think that I am under producing insulin with at most a small portion of insulin resistance. So...
T2 diagnosed 2008.
Slim - I weigh around 11 stone 7 lbs (73 kilos) on a good day.
I am 6 foot tall (I may have shrunk to 5 foot 11.5 inches but in my mind I am still 6 foot).
My BMI is 21.8 so in the middle of the healthy range.
Last HbA1c (September 2025) 8.5%/69 mmol/mol
My current...
I am finding the thread very informative but I am still confused (not unusual).
I have two ""needs".
(1) Have an "always on" display on an Android smart phone so that I can connect the phone to USB for power then mount it in a cradle in the car so I can read my BG whilst driving.
For example...
