Made bone broth - now what?

Old thread, but useful. I came looking for the difference between stock and bone broth. I am still not convinced that there is much difference, the only factor seems to be that the bones may be boiled for longer. I'm not convinced that this makes a major difference but happy to be proved wrong...

Foot care - available on the NHS?

Thanks to those who responded so far. :) I suspect that I am not challenged enough to qualify for free foot care, but just checking in case I am.

    Libre 3 Warning

Thanks. Was just coming here to post about this. Thankfully I am on the Libre2+ so not directly affected.

    Freestyle libre 2

If it is due to pressure then can you locate it somewhere different? I sometimes have pressure lows, and it seems a bit hit and miss as to where the best place for the sensor is. I alternate between arms and try to sleep on different sides but sometimes turn over in my sleep. I assume that the...

Foot care - available on the NHS?

I am starting to struggle with keeping my toenails trimmed. Two issues really; I am very inflexible so can't get very close to them and my eyesight is starting to fail through AMD. I am now looking for someone to care for them, and wondered if an NHS Podiatrist would be suitable for this, and...

    Diabetic Retinopathy and Maculopathy

@Rosie9876 Just came across this. It is possible that some of your eye issues are not related to your diabetes. I am in the early stages of Age Related Macular Degeneration and am told it is probably not linked to my diabetes. I have been diagnosed about 17 years and am 75 years old. My control...

Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) - early detection through eye tests

Further information: Similarities between diabetic retinopathy and wet macular degeneration Similar symptoms and treatments, different root causes.

Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) - early detection through eye tests

Absolutely not. That is one of the main points of my post. Retinopathy checks identify bleeds in the retina. Dry AMD does not show up in the tests.

Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) - early detection through eye tests

I have had annual free eye checks for decades because my mother had glaucoma. Fortunately I have not developed this so far. The Diabetes and age (over 70) also qualify me for free eye checks. I have worn spectacles since the age of 8 so am very used to eye tests. As a T2 Diabetic I also have...

    Creatine and glucose metabolism

All the information about Creatine is good apart from the warning about the load on the kidneys. With a diagnosis of CKD this seems a potential problem.

    Protein Bars

Are polyols the stuff the put in laxatives? Also, I get a strange aftertaste with most sweeteners. Interesting option, but I think I will avoid for the moment.

    Hypo awareness?

Thanks for all the responses so far. The only drug that I am on which carries some hypo risk is Dapagliflozin, but I am told that the risk isn't high. I have turned off my low glucose alarm (have done for a long time) because as @grantg says if you lean on the sensor when asleep you get false...

    Hypo awareness?

T2 not currently on any medications which carries a high risk of hypos. Although Dapagliflozin can carry some risk. I have never (as far as I am aware) had a hypo. Although my Libre 2+ has shown readings around and below 4 which I have not checked by finger prick. So how do you know if you are...

Hello wagon my old friend, I've come to climb on you again.

"There may be side effects when changing over from glucose metabolism to fat metabolism. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketosis These may include headache, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia, difficulty in exercise tolerance, constipation, and nausea, especially in the first days and weeks after...

Hello wagon my old friend, I've come to climb on you again.

As often happens, I have drifted away from a sensible low carbohydrate diet and enjoyed myself too much. I am now back on the wagon for the last few days and it seems to be knocking me out, energy wise. 2-3 mile walks which I could manage easily now leave me very tired. My regular weekly Yoga...
