    How effective is empagliflozin?

I have recently stopped dapagliflozin because I am going into hospital for minor surgery under GA. The guidance from the hospital is to stop Dap 4 days before the procedure, which ties in with your clearance figures. I think I can see a noticeable difference when I stop Dap. Last time I was in...

How long have you been diagnosed type2

Diagnosed in 2008. Still on pills, but slowly getting less able to cope with carbohydrates.

    New Libre warning

T2 self funding Libre 2+ I haven't seen this message so far. Using an Android phone. I have seen messages saying sensor error, of scan error please try again in 10 minutes. Are you looking at the error log or seeing the message directly on the screen?

Is diet along sometimes not enough to get to normal levels ?

I try to avoid Cumberland sausages because of all the added stuff to give it the flavour, and stick with plain pork sausages with at least 95% pork. Rice flour and potato starch as used to pack out sausages. Having said that, I don't think there should be enough carbohydrates there to seriously...

    Walking shoes-What do you wear?

My partner wears Merrell shoes - these are styled like trainers but with a Vibram sole. My lightweight walking boots are Berghaus Explorer Trail Lite. These are a good few years old now, so I don't know if they are still available. I like the Brasher/Berghaus land because of my wide feet. For...

Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

I have been using Libre2+ for a while now and haven't had any total failures. I do have periods where there is signal loss (can be up to a couple of days worst case) but the sensor always scans and the signal comes back eventually. Noting that I am a self funding T2.

    Back again at last

Medium. I had minor surgery for bladder cancer last week so still getting back to normal. I won't know the full prognosis for another week or so, but not expecting anything major as I have already been through this 3 years ago.

    Back again at last

I have finally managed to get back into the Forum. Apparently major problems with the cache and cookies. I found a browser with no memory of me and therefore no cookies or cache with information about me and I am back on. This has taken a while.

Win some lose some...home made chocolates

Back to the truffle making again. I checked the temperature I was mixing at and it was around 65-70C. This time, heating more to remove the grainy texture didn't work. I then did a bit of research: Melting and tempering chocolate It looks as though my temperatures are way too high. I assume...

Do you have a treatment for diabetic foot ulcers. That can be done at home?

I assume that you are not in the UK and so have no access to the NHS and may have to pay for your medical care. We cannot diagnose, not recommend medical treatment, just discuss personal experience. Is your search for alternative treatment due to cost and difficulty accessing your Doctor's...

Feeling cold at night at the end of a 36 hour fast

Quick observation. I tend to eat OMAD in mid afternoon. If I haven't exercised that day I tend to get chilly in the evening. Eating or drinking something warm can lift the chill, snuggling under a duvet less do. Tentative conclusion: my body is going into the first stages of energy saving, where...

Why compare BGM and CGM Values?

Interesting. Noting in passing that this may be a little out of date, as for example the Libre and Libre 2 were intermittently scanned but the latest software for Libre 2 and 2+ gives continuous reading and there is usually no need to physically scan. However a graph of BG continuously over day...

    CGM

Well done again. Any radical change in BG management should always be shared by your medical team so that they can review your medication. You don't want to be taking medication if it is no longer required.

    CGM

Noting that we cannot diagnose or give medical advice. You seem to be doing well. What are you worried abut, specifically? I use the Libre2+ as the voice of my conscience but don't always listen as much as I should. Probably a good idea to share your new numbers with your health care team. If...

Is there a diabetes drug that doesn’t make you pee?

Until recently my T2 meds didn't make me/require me to pee more than usual. That is, Metformin and alogliptin. I recently started forxiga which stops your kidney re-absorbing glucose so that you pee it out. This does make me need to pee more often, including over night. I am on Allopurinol for...
