Type 2 Diabetes foot care, nail trimming?

I have T2 Diabetes, and also AMD (Age Related Macular Degeneration). I am also very inflexible so can't easily get my face near to my toes. This makes nail care very difficult. I am looking for a service to care for my nails and feet. NHS Podiatry only seems to treat serious foot problems, so I...

    Libre sensors

I assume that there is also the issue of approval for use as a medical device, and also how long it maintains the accuracy required for approval. No doubt the price would come down if more devices came to the market. However that takes time and money.

    UK vs US conversion

I still use old style numbers mostly, because that is what I learned when first diagnosed in 2008.

    Chronic Kidney Disease

I have CKD and have had for many years. It doesn't seem to affect my day to day life. Mainly I note that it seems to take a long time between drinking and needing a wee.

Carb Flu - how do I tell this from medication side effects?

I am back on the strict wagon again, and my BG has come down to where it should be. However I feel decidedly rough. I don't recall this level of reaction all the previous times I have gone very low carb. Been on the wagon for about a week. Last Monday I had an endoscopy which showed minor acid...

    CGM useful or not?

Just popping by to say that I had a procedure in hospital last Monday, they tested my BG, and the value on their machine was identical to the reading on my LibraLink. Libre 2+ sensor. Some kind of miracle, I think.

T2 - Insulin and Low Carb Query

I am on Dapagliflozin but not on insulin. I have puzzled about the cause of DKA when on this drug. Latest UK Government view Up until now I have assumed that diagnosis of DKA can be missed as it is usually associated with very high BG levels. I didn't see how filtering glucose out of the blood...

    Lada and Gliclazide

I did a private HOMAR-IR test a good few years back which showed some insulin resistance. Insulin level lower part of normal, but BG still elevated. Therefore some insulin resistance. I have never had any antibody tests.

    Lada and Gliclazide

As I understand it LADA is (more or less) delayed onset T1. Although checking on line now there is still a lot of confusion. Is the main diagnostic of LADA the presence of antibodies, indicating that the immune system is in the process of destroying Beta cells? My confusion is over the level of...

    Lada and Gliclazide

For my own understanding. Can you be LADA when you are still producing enough insulin from your pancreas to require a significant amount of carbohydrates? My next step in medication is likely to be Gliclazide but I have had no suggestion (so far) of LADA.

Did you ever have a Fructosamine test?

Resistant starch - still a "thing"?

Thanks to all. The question was prompted by an unexpected reaction to refried potatoes.

    Dry Eyes

Have you seen any which are "not suitable for diabetics"? I am always wary of anything tagged "Diabetic" because not everything has proven research. It is often just a marketing ploy. I would take advice on the best eyedrops from your optician. I have had dry eyes for many years but my optician...

Resistant starch - still a "thing"?

Resistant starch article I recall discussions on this from a few years back but my inept search terms don't really find much currently on the Forum. It used to be about, for example, boiling potatoes, cooling them, then refrying them. Boiling then cooling pasta. Does anyone actively pursue...

    Dry Eyes

Following the discussion because I didn't think that eye drops were contraindicated for someone with diabetes. I'm not sure why they would.
