Type 2 with Insulin. Poll. How many forum users come within this category ?

Noting that the poll has a field for T2 not on insulin. I didn't contribute to the poll because I found the title misleading compared to the table within. I suspect that there are more than 6 people on the Forum who are T2 not on Insulin, including myself.

    Flu and BG

Strangely, my BG has been up but not desperately high after Flu and Covid one each arm. Things I expected to spike me didn't. However I didn't go as low as usual either. All very strange.

Food diary might be helpful. This will give us an idea about how many carbohydrates you are eating in a day.

Freestyle Libre 2 Reader - carry case?

As a very long time user of a Freestyle Freedom Lite blood glucose monitor (finger prick) I have always had a carry case which held the monitor, finger prick device and a tub of measuring strips. Plus space for some bits of kitchen roll for mopping up blood. When I complained to Abbott about...

    Glucose monitoring device recommendations

Abbott replaced my Freestyle Freedom Lite with a Freestyle 2 reader (combined reading of sensor and blood glucose) when I complained that the LibreView web site no longer had drivers to upload the data from the meter. Despite the web site claiming support. Might be worth a try.

    Lack of connectivity.

Sometimes it settles down after a bit and decides to talk to the phone. I had a run of sensors which reported signal loss for a while and then worked again. I haven't had that so far with the latest batch.

    Disposing of Freestyle Libre

A lot of daily items are contaminated by bodily fluids. Consider when you blow your nose on a paper tissue.

Low Residue/Low Fibre diet before colonoscopy?

As far as I can recall I mainly fasted, and there were enough low carb things on the list to provide snacks. As I eat mainly low carb I am used to living on body fat so a couple of days of minimal food didn't cause me much hardship.

How open are you about your T2 diabetes?

To answer the OP, I make no secret of my T2 because I don't care if other people judge me. Socially, it comes up if I decline cakes and other sweet things. Especially on group bike rides where "coffee and cake" is traditional. It shouldn't really impact anyone else apart from making food choices...

How open are you about your T2 diabetes?

Been T2 for 17 years and not had a hypo yet. So when will this hypo happen?

Type 1 Freestyle libre sensor sites

I wear mine high up on the outside of my arm, about level with the armpit. This is easily covered by a short sleeve T shirt. I don't generally wear strapless. :D I alternate arms. I am more interested in trends, as a T2, than precision so I don't always check against a finger prick. On my last...

    cholesterol/2 types LDL?

I would note that I have a strong prejudice against articles in the Guardian, but that is just me. I also have a strong prejudice against statins due to previous bad experiences. Suffice it to say that butter is one of my mainstays, and as I am approaching 75 with recent good blood pressure...

    Dapagliflozin

I am on Metformin and Alogliptin which is another DPP-4 inhibitor. I added Dap a while back. This has improved my BG control quite a bit. When I had minor surgery recently I had to stop the DAP and (apart from the extra effects of a GA) I could see that my BG control was much poorer. It has...

    Colonoscopy

The worst part is the bowel prep. I just sat on the toilet for the most part whilst the mixture did its work. I've had it with and without sedation, but used gas and air each time. I would recommend sedation as long as you are comfortable with needles. If not, just use the gas and air. This...

    Dapagliflozin newbie

I am on forxiga/dapagliflozin 10 mg as well as metformin and Vipidia. I recently had surgery under GA and had to stop the Dap 4 days beforehand. I could see a major difference in my BG control, which settled down again after a few days back on the Dap. I am having burning sensations when I wee...
