Win some lose some...home made chocolates

Back to the truffle making again. I checked the temperature I was mixing at and it was around 65-70C. This time, heating more to remove the grainy texture didn't work. I then did a bit of research: Melting and tempering chocolate It looks as though my temperatures are way too high. I assume...

Do you have a treatment for diabetic foot ulcers. That can be done at home?

I assume that you are not in the UK and so have no access to the NHS and may have to pay for your medical care. We cannot diagnose, not recommend medical treatment, just discuss personal experience. Is your search for alternative treatment due to cost and difficulty accessing your Doctor's...

Feeling cold at night at the end of a 36 hour fast

Quick observation. I tend to eat OMAD in mid afternoon. If I haven't exercised that day I tend to get chilly in the evening. Eating or drinking something warm can lift the chill, snuggling under a duvet less do. Tentative conclusion: my body is going into the first stages of energy saving, where...

Why compare BGM and CGM Values?

Interesting. Noting in passing that this may be a little out of date, as for example the Libre and Libre 2 were intermittently scanned but the latest software for Libre 2 and 2+ gives continuous reading and there is usually no need to physically scan. However a graph of BG continuously over day...

    CGM

Well done again. Any radical change in BG management should always be shared by your medical team so that they can review your medication. You don't want to be taking medication if it is no longer required.

    CGM

Noting that we cannot diagnose or give medical advice. You seem to be doing well. What are you worried abut, specifically? I use the Libre2+ as the voice of my conscience but don't always listen as much as I should. Probably a good idea to share your new numbers with your health care team. If...

Is there a diabetes drug that doesn’t make you pee?

Until recently my T2 meds didn't make me/require me to pee more than usual. That is, Metformin and alogliptin. I recently started forxiga which stops your kidney re-absorbing glucose so that you pee it out. This does make me need to pee more often, including over night. I am on Allopurinol for...

I am OK to join you. Looking forward to it. I am about an hour away by road. Any time is fine by me.

    Glycogen Storage Disease

@Boodicca have you had any tests to confirm which kind of GSD you have? I understand that it can be genetic in many cases and the type can be narrowed down by genetic analysis.

    Urine production at night.

I was just trying to do the sums. :) If you are producing 2+ litres over night it must be coming from somewhere, most likely your fluid intake during the day. A passing thought; how quickly do your kidneys process fluids? That is, if you drink a cup of tea, for example, how long is it before...

Can anyone help me make sense of this?!

Have you considered a trial with a Constant Glucose Monitor such as a Libre 2? I think that in very rare cases you can have very high spikes in blood glucose, then lows, which average out in the HbA1c. I think that Abbott still do the 2 week free trial (this assumes that you have a compatible...

    GOOD TIME FOR A FOLLOW-UP HbA1c Check?

Minimum interval is 3 months because that is how long it usually takes to completely replace all the red blood cells. At the discretion of your surgery.

    Urine production at night.

I assume that you are drinking a lot? Like 2-4 litres in the afternoon/evening? Most people have, at a minimum, a first thing in the morning pee. Some of us have to get up at least once in the night. Also, how much are you producing during the day?

    Annual review

This just caught my eye. What exactly is a GP assistant? Presumably not a GP, but I'm not sure that I've seen this exact term before.

    Pancreas..... can it die

If only it were that simple. :( There are mechanisms which regulate when insulin is called for, when it is throttled, when the liver releases extra glucose. My BG control seems inconsistent, for example being more able to handle carbs after mid-day for some reason. Also, my BG over night...
