Also, it depends what has been eaten during the day, if you have had a lot of slow releasing carbs it could just be the ongoing effect from these! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

DAFNE course... whos took part in this and did you find it helpful?

The best thing I ever did was going on the DAFNE course. I had been type 1 for about 14 years when I went, was about 4 stone overweight, didn't have particularly good control and wasn't testing regularly. In the 12 months following the course I lost 2 stone without trying, almost halved my...

just found out i am pregnant terrified regarding diabetes as control is not perfect please help

If you haven't already done so contact your diabetes team ASAP. The earlier you get them on board the better. You will get more regular check up and scans. You may also be induced a couple of weeks earlier, especially if your sugar levels become erratic. I was, my consultant said it was a sign...

Type 1: What are your HbA1c test results?

Lesley0309 - I used to have this problem. High results in the morning. Check your bloods at about 1am and again at about 4am for a few nights you will probably find that you are dropping low during the night and then it is going high early hours of the morning. I would suggest either...

    Metformin and type 1

I've been type 1 for 17 years and started on metformin about 10 years ago. I drink, not a lot most of the time but sometimes have a good binge and I'm fine. I've always tolerated metformin well and has probably helped me to lose weight over the years

Sickness bug a few days ago, now constant hypos??

On Wednesday I had a 24 hr sickness bug - I was actually only sick once but felt nauseous. On Saturday I woke at 5am with a hypo which is a very unusual time for me to be low, if I'm going to get a hypo it's between 1 and 3am. Since then I have been in a virtually hypo. No matter what I have...

How quickly will I get a pump

I have been passed from my standard diabetes team to the pump team as they have decided that would be the best way forward for me. I have my first appointment on Monday, will I get a pump there and then, or will I have to wait for one and if so how long. I live in Hertfordshire.

    Hey!

With regard to your hypos, I use glucogel. You can get it on prescription so ask your GP to add it to your repeat. I run regularly and they are nice small tubes that fit inside my running bag (along with the poo bags for my dog!!). They work really quickly. Good luck with your exercise plan...

    Hi from a DAFNE Grad

I've been taking happy pills :) since my eldest daughter passed away aged 12 in November 2008. Although in myself I feel fine now, I couldn't imagine giving them up!! Haven't noticed any difference to my diabetes whilst taking them, although the year before she died life was very...

    Weight Loss with Type 1

I have managed to lose over 3 stones over the last 2 years and it is due to:- 1. Going on the DAFNE course and since reducing my insulin doses significantly. As you have to carb count it also makes you think about everything you eat. 2. Buying a dog - 2 x 20-30mins a day and the weight...

    Help Required

Hi I haven't read through all your thread, just had a quick scan but one thing I would strongly recommend is trying to get on a DAFNE (or similar) course. It will help you immensely with the BGs but more importantly you will be able to build up a rapport with the DSNs that run it, and they will...

To pump or not to pump......that's my question!

Thank you Cheryl that was a helpful insight. Like you I worry about hiding it under clothes - Ok I'm 40 now but i do still Like to wear fitted dresses and jeans and tops! Also I run 3 times a week and walk the dog daily so my results can be quite erratic. Will work closely with my new DSN over...

Type 1's being refused test strips

Just read through all your thread - I'm fuming on your behalf. Your GP shouldn't be treating diabetics if he knows so little. How did you get to your doctors - car or foot? If it was by car is he aware that you should check your sugar levels before driving! Hope you get a better response...
