Hello @VioletViolet I'm also hba1c 42. I've had covid a few times (the nature of the beast with my job) Having covid puts my BG numbers up a little but the jab never does and I get the covid/flu combo yearly. I think everyone is different but I'd far rather have the protection than the disease.
Okay so I'm waving a big wave and announcing my return.
I haven't posted since June and have fallen away from the forum along with just about giving up on noting what I'm eating and even getting really lackadaisical about testing.
I haven't actually given up low carb (thank goodness) but am...
Hi @DAGCHAP and welcome aboard. I too was confused and a bit nervous when first diagnosed. What helped me most was read, read , reading on here until my eyes were blurry. Use the search bar or just click in to anything remotely connected. Yo'll find lots of people who have been where you are and...
Hi @Tommyboy2020 I'm so sorry the relationship between you and the school seems to have broken down. There are only a couple of weeks of term left. Can you make an appointment to go in and speak to someone and express your concerns? Maybe a fresh start for August? I'm assuming you are able to...
@Antje77 I am very flattered thank you, but also, horrified :). I still consider myself new and in learning mode. The thought of others taking me seriously is enough to raise my bg numbers. In this instance I will politely decline but if we are all still here a year from now please do ask again.
I agree with what everyone says about testing and differences between individuals because, drum roll, apricots don't spike me. Granted I'll aim for a small not too ripe apricot and I only ever have it as a dessert to my lunch but in season I have one almost every work day as part of my packed...
We would be friends @Paul_ and I'll tell you why. I read this and immediately started looking for a link (I couldn't find one) to a local scheme in Glasgow where a group of children in a deprived area repopulated the frogs in some nearby woodland by nurturing frog spawn from elsewhere. That...
@becca59 Your life sounds like the one I aspire to. I can't afford it yet and I still have grown kids at home but my husband and I are both 58 and have agreed at 60 we go to 3 or 4 days and then it's retirement as soon as we can. Walking, reading, a slower life is the dream.
I thought about this thread at work today when the words "lets make a plan to eat that frog" and "lets find a window of opportunity" came out of my very own mouth. It made me smile.
Yup. I feel you. I was 42 and actually quite liked my job of 20 years although didn't really feel it was "enough" and would get frustrated with a recurring feeling that I knew more than the people who were managing me. Believe it or not I had a degree in my back pocket that I'd earned in my...
Hi @RFSMarch type 2 with ulcerative colitis here. I've had colitis for 20 years and have never been as healthy as I have been on my keto diet since last August. I do want to say that I've been one of the lucky ones who historically could go two or three months without a flair and when it did I...
And yet another lovely reply from yourself @shelley262 Thank you. I use headspace every morning along with some journalling and reading. I'm an early sort so really don't find falling asleep a problem. I do get up to visit the loo two or 3 times a night if DP kicks in every time my numbers will...
Ditto what @Outlier said above. Jo I have told you more than once how important you have been to me and my recovery, and that's you just the way you are. Words on a page are just words on a page and none of us truly know what each others lives look like in the real world. If this is the season...
