My "reset" post

Okay so I'm waving a big wave and announcing my return.
I haven't posted since June and have fallen away from the forum along with just about giving up on noting what I'm eating and even getting really lackadaisical about testing.
I haven't actually given up low carb (thank goodness) but am certainly eating much more than I was across the day and when I remember to test if I'm in ketosis ,I never am.
Last night I got out of bed and made toast and cheese (all be it with heylo bread) and this morning my first bloods were 9.3. Its ridiculous, a couple of months ago I was annoyed if it was more than 7.
I did have an hba1c in July which was down to 42 from 43 in March and 44 last November so I was absolutely on track but if they did it next week it would be a different story.
Nothing really to blame (except maybe knee replacement recovery, impinged shoulder, sprained wrist, my wee mum went into care, my dad needs lots of looking after, work is hard and I've had covid that led to the most horrible long lasting cold. )Pity party , yes, but eating has kind of turned into something nice I do for myself.
So today is My Monday reset. noting everything, two meals a day, less than 20carbs a day, and testing before and two hours after.
August 2023 my hba1c was 54 August 2024 it was 42 so I know how to do this!
And we're off.

They are some fairly big events, so it's not surprising that you fell off the wagon somewhat. We all know what we *should* do, but it's not always that easy sometimes. It's good to see you back, and good luck finding that reset switch.

Having the courage to say that in front of anyone is really something... well done.
None of this is easy... but it doesn't all need to feel like it's you against the world, there are options for little rewards (he says having just had dark chocolate and thick double cream with a fabulous espresso).

Welcome back @Margarettt I have also veered off track since end of June. I had decompression surgery on 1st July and since then acted, some days, as if I wasn’t a diabetic, (not all the time but chocolate and ice cream featured heavily when I was feeling sorry for myself).
I started back in earnest yesterday too and kicked off with a fat fast. I was hoping to do 3 days but I’m feeling a bit queasy with all the fat consumption so maybe will do just the 2 days and finish this evening.
I’m sure you’ll be back on track in no time at all. Sending my well wishes x
