    It probably has more to do with age. I don't drink wine in the evenings anymore because it messes with my sleep patterns. I only drink low alcohol beer, no later than 5pm or I have to get up during the night!

    Will a 'tiny bit' be enough for you? It wouldn't for me, which is why sticking to Whisky or Bourbon works better. They don't contain carbs, having a bit more is is not a problem. Having said that, a small amount of Bailey's shouldn't be a problem. The hard part is knowing how much to bolus.

    Sounds to me like inadequate basal. Fiddling with boluses becomes like trying to push water uphill if basal is out of line. Test your basal and then figure out what needs to be done.

    The size of the meal probably had a lot to do with it. I find blood glucose stays up for while after a big meal. A while ago I did an experiment Richard Bernstein describes, of eating a whole head of lettuce. Almost no carbs, but blood glucose went up.
