Neuropathy extreme pain, other types of meds ect

My husband (T1) has neuropathy and fibromyalgia. He takes 100 mg of Duloxetine, Tramadol and chilli cream. He is not totally pain free but he finds the Duloxetine especially effective. Have you been to your hospital pain clinic? They are very good at our local hospital and have helped my husband...

    Statins and type 1

UPDATE Hubby has been on the Statins for around 3 weeks now. He hasn't noticed any difference in how he is feeling, his pain levels are no worse than usual. Still early days though. Thanks for all your advice.

    Statins and type 1

The side effects sound terrible that you suffered JMK1954. The consultant thought the statins would help lower the risk of a possible heart attack in the future as my husband has been a type1 for over 30 years, of course that highers the risk. Yet on the other hand he said my husband wasn't a...

    Statins and type 1

His cholesterol is 4.1 which I believe is quite good, his weight and blood pressure are fine too.

    Statins and type 1

I had heard bad things about statins, he already has pain, fatigue and memory problems due to the fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome he suffers from, really don't want to make him worse. To be fair the doctor did say it is his choice and he wrote a prescription for a very low dose statin...

    Statins and type 1

My husband has just had his 6 monthly check up at the diabetic clinic. The consultant was very pleased with his HBA 1C that is 6.4. My husband has normal blood pressure and quite low cholesterol, yet the consultant wants my husband to start taking a low dose of statins as he is 53 years old. Has...

Type 1: Will a low carb diet effect energy levels?

Thanks for your reply. My husband has very low vitamin D levels but takes a supplement. We try very hard for his BG to be in range, he doesn't eat a bad diet but has grain bread, some potatoes and cerials most days, but his other meds cause highs. We carb count every meal but I get rather...

Type 1: Will a low carb diet effect energy levels?

My husband has been type 1 for over 30 years, he also has fibromyalgia, Chronic fatigue syndrome, gastroparisis, depression, neuropathy, thyroid problems, and retinopathy. He's unable to work, has chronic pain and spends most of his time sleeping. Just to walk down stairs exhausts him. He's on...

** Possible Boots The Chemist Alert **

I have to use Boots for my hubbys prescription as its the only chemist in our area that can get 40mg Duloxetine tablets which is on his repeat. I would say out of the past 12 months they have only got his prescription correct once. Not only do we have problems with Boots but now his doctors...

    Silly question.

It is such a battle to get the basic appointments we often feel like giving up, but we have to carry on. That's a good idea to ask to speak to dietician, we are so hoping he will be able to chew again and his face go back to normal.

    Silly question.

We've had a lot of problems the last few months. Can't say we have had much support from the Diabetic health care team. Just trying to speak to someone is near on impossible. We attend a lot of different hospital departments. Feels never ending at times.

    Silly question.

We have Carbs and Cals, must admit that we got to the stage where I could look at a meal and know how much insulin was needed as we tended to have the same meals over a month, but since his health has deteriorated, certain foods upset his stomach and now he is limited to soft food only it is...

    Silly question.

We've never tried it, we are on a very tight budget at the moment as hubby isn't at work as he's too poorly.
