I’m fairly new to the diabetes scene - I was diagnosed in June 2018 but found out I was pregnant in July 2018 so was put on Insulin and very closely monitored until I had my baby in March 2019
Since having DD I have not looked after myself with regards to food
I have recently gone back to work...
I used a chicken breast as my pizza base the other day and loved it
I just bashed the breast flat and pan fried until cooked then topped with passata and cheese and pepperoni - lovely :-)
Normally my sugars are about 6or7 (apart from first thing in the morning due to what I’m calling dawn Phenomenon) - I don’t have the diabetic specialist number & the normal diabetic nurse is booked up months ahead! I will try call again in the morning and chat to a receptionist
Well I called the docs and I’ve got a booking in appointment on 15th August and nothing was mentioned about seeing the diabetic nurse as I have an appointment on 17th!
Maitai- give yourself some time - I was diagnosed only 7 weeks ago and still feel embarrassed that I have type 2
Did you have any symptoms before your diagnosis? I didn’t and the diabetic nurse is now suspecting MODY - it could be something to look in to due to your age (I’m 10years older than...
I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes about 2 months ago and have just done a pregnancy and it was positive
My sugars are not under control - I’ve got an appointment with the specialist diabetes nurse on 17th Aug - do I need to see doctor before hand? Or just tell DN at my appointment?
I did...
I had an appointment with the DN on Tuesday and she has transferred me to the diabetes specialist who I am seeing in a couple of weeks as she suspects I have MODY as I’m 31 and presented no symptoms (apart from some issues in the private region(not thrush))
I have been testing more often to see...
Thank you everyone - food for thought!
I will have a go at some suggestions
I like the idea of a warm salad :-)
We currently have tomatoes growing at the caravan so will try some of those to see if my tastebuds have changed!
I think I need to get a bit more organised!
Thanks again :-)
Has anyone got any recommendations for a spiraliser?
I’m looking on Amazon and there are so many different types which is leaving me feeling quite lost!
I’m in the UK
Any type I should steer clear of?
We currently wash up by hand as no dishwasher (although hoping to get one soon) so easy...
Plodding along slowly here . . .
I am still battling with food (living in a caravan for another month) and whenever I look at what others are eating or recipes etc there is always salad
Problem is I have never liked salad
I think lettuce/green leaves taste like grass, I dislike raw tomatoes...
Thank you
To clarify the meal I had that BG went from 7.6 to 9 was butternut squash ‘chips’ a salmon fish cake and a couple of pieces of chicken
My lunch time meal was the bread - this was the only choice I had as it was a works buffet lunch (I hadn’t eaten breakfast either)
I believe I have...
I hadn’t thought of a dehydrator - sounds interesting - thank you
I did wonder around the supermarket the other night and purchased meals in tins for grabable meals
My husband has now not cooked me a meal since I’ve been diagnosed (he is the stay at home dad/ house husband)
I will stock up...
Hi there
I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 3 weeks ago and I feel I already have made progress but I’m curious about timescales if someone could help?
In 2013 I had gestational diabetes for about 3 weeks (picked up after a urine test at 36 weeks) and was put on metformin and given a monitor...
Thanks everyone
Great ideas to get me going
Unfortunately I do not like salad - I love veg - but all the wrong kinds (root veg). I have been making a point of trying but still not liking it at all!
I will give pork scratchings a go again (I’m not a lover of fat on meat - or skin!)
I will have a...
