Help needed. Is it this heatwave?

I am wanting to pass out from the heat, but my problem regulating my BG began before the heatwave and hasn't got worse with it. Also consider: Are you getting dehydrated? Are you sleeping poorly, exercising less, more stressed? All connected with the heatwave and could play havoc with BG control.

Might magnesium supplement have caused low blood sugar in the night?

There are different magnesium compounds for different conditions. I was taking magnesium glycinate to help me sleep. I stopped to see if it was causing my night time BG to go too low. Then my BG shot up, so I went back on it again. Now my BS is 2.9 (on Libre, which has been pretty accurate...

How closely did your CGM predicted HbA1c match your actual test result?

How closely did your CGM predicted HbA1c match your actual test result? My prediction on Libre 2+ was 50 mmol/mol. My actual test result was 52 mmol/mol. I'd say that's remarkably accurate, better than it used to be in my experience.

Might magnesium supplement have caused low blood sugar in the night?

Thank you for this link. So it's possible that the magnesium did contribute to the lows, though why so extreme, I still can't fathom. If it's not this, the coincidence seems extraordinary, unless there is something I am forgetting. I'm putting my toe in again, taking one about every other...

Might magnesium supplement have caused low blood sugar in the night?

I started the magnesium to help with my sleep. Poor sleep does affect BG, so in that sense there could be a connection. But when my BG plummeted at night, I stopped the magnesium and my BG shot up. I'm just making an observation of what's happened to me. I'm back on the magnesium. So far, it...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

5.8 on Libre this morning, after (another) poor night's sleep.

Might magnesium supplement have caused low blood sugar in the night?

I stopped taking the magnesium and my blood sugar shot up, and with poor sleep. The low episodes stopped altogether, after experiencing them nightly for increasing duration. I've begun taking it again - not every evening, - and BS is calming down a bit. I'm not saying it's causal, but it sure is...

Might magnesium supplement have caused low blood sugar in the night?

After a long stint in hospital, my blood sugar control went haywire, even when I returned to the low carb regime which had worked previously. Also, I was sleeping poorly, waking up several times and unable to get back to sleep. So I began taking a modest magnesium supplement (375 mg). My BG went...

what on earth can I eat?

Similar dilemma, with T2D calling for low carbs, so high protein, and huge uric acid kidney stones and deteriorating kidney function calling for a gout diet, including avoiding oxalates. Of course I can't advise you medically, but just to say, a dietician didn't help me - she said she...

This is not supposed to happen on Metformin alone.

Thanks for your continued interest. To answer your questions: The first time it happened was midnight, as I was going to bed, and I did as you suggest. I had a swig of maple syrup  . The other times were when I was asleep, and although it sometimes woke me up, not well enough to actually...

This is not supposed to happen on Metformin alone.

Thank you for your comments. I have a normal BMI and am not trying to lose weight. I suspect I have too much visceral fat, but if I lose weight to try to get rid of it, my arms and legs become too skinny and my waist seems unaffected, so I keep hoping clean eating and exercise will do it. So far...

This is not supposed to happen on Metformin alone.

Thanks for your comments @lovinglife. I know I need to test with a finger prick, but my efforts have been unsuccessful. I don't get enough blood, and so many errors with wasted strips that it becomes stressful. I estimate the general accuracy of the sensor by comparing it with nurses' finger...

This is not supposed to happen on Metformin alone.

I had lunch about 4 1/2 hours before the dip. I had I'd estimate about 20-25 carbs, from sourdough crispbread and 10% fat Greek Yoghurt with a sprinkle of pomegranate seeds. That's about typical for me. I peaked at 7 mmol/L and it went down from there. My breakfast is generally very low carb...

This is not supposed to happen on Metformin alone.

For the first time, I've had a low during the day. I became aware of my BG only because I suddenly felt woozy to the point of nearly fainting, and nauseous. It went down to 2.9 and lasted about 1/2 hour. I worked at slow deep breathing and relaxing. Now it's come back up to 4.3. I hadn't done...

This is not supposed to happen on Metformin alone.

Lucky you. I was distressed after the post-surgery complications. I'd lost confidence for various reasons, and wanted to discharge myself and continue treatment at a different hospital. But there was a lot of resistance to my leaving the ICU and I was offered counselling if I stayed, but it...
