At last my GP agreed I can stop taking Dapagliflozin.

I was prescribed Dapagliflozin (on top of Metformin) a year ago, because my HbA1c had risen to 88 mmol/mol. It did not get reduced until I started a low carb regime 2 months later. I stopped taking it a week ago, with my GP's agreement. Here are my early observations: 1. It has had no...

Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

I'm finding the Libre 2 plus reliable. I did have a spate of 3 which failed just after activation and one which fell off at about Day 10, all of which were replaced without fuss. But otherwise they've been fine. I use a fairly old Android phone.

I've just been emailed a link to NHS "Know Diabetes" app to manage T2D.

I haven't looked at it thoroughly yet, but I see the app is regional (NW London) and with a 2025 copyright. @AnnHaugh has had a similar app for some time, so I suspect regions are coming to realise the importance of self-help. Having said which, it's far from comprehensive and has the usual...

I've just been emailed a link to NHS "Know Diabetes" app to manage T2D.

Lucky you. I guess GP surgeries are very uneven on help for T2 diabetes. But my practice is beginning to come to attention recently, maybe because I've had quite a few problems, although I sometimes feel like a nuisance.

I've just been emailed a link to NHS "Know Diabetes" app to manage T2D.

A very welcome development. An app called "Know Diabetes" with a dashboard including "My Results", "My Profile", "Managing your Condition", showing graphics of results and screenings, to help us manage T2D. It's incomplete, less detailed than it could be, but hugely helpful, especially as I...

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.2 this morning on the Libre. Of course could be wrong.

    fingerprick hba1c/lipid profile test?

In case you are still looking, I just found that Lloyd's Pharmacy does a series of "from home" blood test kits, including A1c and lipids...

    New Libre warning

I had this message not long after I activated my sensor. Since the pause, the sensor has worked fine - now on Day 4.

Does Libre 2 plus "correct" itself?

Thanks. This sounds plausible, and I agree with you, that more information would be useful.

    fingerprick hba1c/lipid profile test?

I got a finger prick A1c test at Boots for £19.95. Result was 50 mmol/mol. Very shortly after, I was called in for a full blood test. Result was 53. Impressively close, I thought. But Boots has cancelled this service AFAIK.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

4.2 on Libre 2 plus. Just hope it's accurate.

    fingerprick hba1c/lipid profile test?

My veins are terrible, not a phobia but I bruise like crazy when blood is drawn. But note: you can ask for a baby needle. It's less painful.

    fingerprick hba1c/lipid profile test?

I'd be interested in a lipid profile test. Please post if you find one. Boots offered an in-store finger prick A1c test for £19.95, but they've apparently discontinued it.

Does Libre 2 plus "correct" itself?

For no discernable reason, my CGM quickly started climbing from about 6.0 -> To 9.4 with arrow pointing up, indicating higher to come. It then stayed there for a minute before descending bit by bit, now down to 6.1 -> , with most of the higher readings disappeared. I've seen corrections from low...

Very Low Blood Sugars, Not Increasing With Carbs

Just phone Abbott and tell them you haven't received replacements for the 2 failed sensors. They may reply they were sent, but if you persevere that they weren't received, they should resend. Make sure you confirm the address, including post code. They did resend for me. The first must have...

    Advanced Eye Disease

Hello @Type2_2000 Like you, my latest diabetic eye screening showed a deterioration (maculopathy) after I'd finally improved long-standing poor glucose control. My appointment is tomorrow, less than 2 months after the eye screening. Given the normal slow reaction time of the NHS, this suggests...

Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

I've been using the Libre 2 plus and only had one fall off. That was in early days and Abbott replaced it without fuss. I'm very careful to prepare for it, washing with plain soap, drying, applying alcohol and letting it dry, then placing it firmly on the exact spot. Maybe watch a "how to"...

    Blood Monitors Compared

I've been on CGM Libre 2 plus but couldn't get the hang of a finger prick meter to check accuracy. I finally got a Betachek C50 because it has test strips and lancet in a 50 test cassette. I thought it would be idiot-proof but it's useless, with most tests being either error or mistakenly low...

    Tofu

I buy extra firm tofu (sometimes smoked). I get as much moisture out as I can, cut it into strips and marinate it for at least 30 minutes in a mixture of low salt soy sauce, a bit of honey or maple syrup, toasted sesame oil, rice vinegar (if I have it to hand) and garlic powder and a pinch of...
