    Hot weather, frequent lows, T1D

Absolutely, consistency is what I like, can't see it happening any time soon though, unfortunately. Thanks for your response, good to know others have a similar issue.

    Hot weather, frequent lows, T1D

Hi all, whilst lots of us love the hot weather, I definitely don't. I live with T1D and have for the last 45 years. On a Tandem Control IQ pump with Dexcom sensor. For me as soon as the weather rises to above 22 degrees C, down my bg's go like a bullet, despite reduced insulin levels. Does...

    Jelly Babies or Jelly Beans?

I used to take jelly babies but they melt in the sun, had to move over to wine gums that don't. Harder to eat though when you're low. You're a brave man, there's no way I could touch dextrosol or gluco tabs again, are too many as a child. Thankfully we're all different!

Dexcom and lack of phone app updates

Hi, I had a similar issue with the phone I had at the time, you're not alone. I had to bite the bullet and buy an iPhone. I absolutely hate everything about iPhones generally. So now I carry two phones which is a bit of a pain, but the only good thing is that the iPhone works everytime...

    levemir

Sorry to hear you are having grief getting Levemir. I can get it where I live easily, at least you have some flex pens which are much easier to use than a syringe, but as people often say on this forum, we like what we like not necessarily what everyone else likes. I wish I could send you some...

    Can't reduce my HbA1c

I'm interested to know which items you feel have carbs in them in a salad? Tomatoes yes a minuscule amount, what else are you including. As far as I know, lettuce, rockets, radishes, cucumber and say tuna or hard-boiled eggs for example do not have any. Please keep me posted, perhaps I have...

    Can't reduce my HbA1c

Hi @joshandjess - a good thing to post, a great first step. I don't have Type 2 but can advise on the carb thing, in the hope it helps you. As you and someone else commented on, having porridge which is very carb heavy and Ryvita's, boy ..., that's a lot of carbs in two meals. Would you be...

Blood glucose monitor readings and their accuracy?

Welcome to living with Type 1 D. From my experience, the results are often more accurate than how you feel. It's in our nature to remember the bad, not the good bits. 6.5 is really good, you should be proud of that :) The problem with this disease whichever flavour is that you can very...

Tandem Control IQ pump failed again!

Hi @Hopeful34 and @Juicyj - despite the challenges I have had with the Tandem Control IQ pump latterly, it beats Medtronic hands down. The closed-loop system is great, perhaps I've just been unfortunate. They are investigating the reasons why. Not being attached as you say @Juicyj is bliss...

Tandem Control IQ pump failed again!

Hi @Juicyj, interesting that you have previously had Medtronic failures, I used to be on a Medtronic pump, but switched to Tandem as it seemed to be more advanced. I attach a photo of the malfunction code in case it happens to you. Thankfully I always have spare stocks of insulin pens. After...

Tandem Control IQ pump failed again!

Hi all, I am a PWD and have lived with the disease for 45 years in the UK. The last ten of which I have been using a pump, the last two years using the Tandem Control IQ pump (closed loop). I'm the last eight months I have had two pumps completely fail, ie they have both had the same...

    Hypo treatment options

Hi @Ushthetaff - thanks for your response. The small cans of coke by the side of your bed is a good option. I know in theory that it is advisable to eat some carbs right after, but it's not something I can even consider at 2am in the morning. Practice it seems is required! Thank you for your...

    Hypo treatment options

Well to be fair it did stop the insulin, but because I was rather out of it at the time I think I probably missed it as it was just on vibrate. Although, these settings have now been changed to have sound and vibration. Fingers crossed.

    Hypo treatment options

Also you made me think that perhaps I need to ensure my alarms are on sound not just vibrate at night as well. If I'm asleep as I was I wouldn't have felt the vibration. Always good to have a reminder of things sometimes, thanks for your swift response.

    Hypo treatment options

Thanks for your response. I have a tandem control iq pump and a dexcom g6 sensor, so thankfully it's a closed loop pump. Although the sensor readings only go down to 2.2. Thanks for confirming about the glucagon, I thought that might be the case but wasn't sure, hence th question.
