    Home Glucose tolerance test

8.4 would be indicative of pre diabetes, but that was at 1 hour. I think it was more a confusion that led to me being worried. Thanks nosher8355.

    Home Glucose tolerance test

I'm feeling a bit better than I was before. I think seeing the 8.4 after the hour just gave me a big shock. To be honest, I think it wasn't helped by not being sure what I should be seeing at 1 hour, I could really only see info regarding what it should be at 2 hours. Thanks for all the...

    Home Glucose tolerance test

Yeah, it's been great for me for 3 years, I thought I would be fine, but I guess I just have to suck it up that I have anxiety engrained into me and I may never get off my medication.

Thanks @nosher8355 for the reassurance, but arr you speaking about my second test that I done today? I just thought it was a little on the high side.

    Home Glucose tolerance test

You're entirely correct. I know how I'm coming across. Drs appointment tomorrow at 10:20. Have been coming off of Citalopram for the past few weeks (for anxiety, lol!) and it's definitely not my time. I'm up to high do with absolutely everything minor. Been on Citalopram for 3 years and just...

    Home Glucose tolerance test

That 8.4 reading would be pre diabetes though, wouldn't it? :( Just a general question, do people with IGT/ pre diabetes also have to get extra eye screening etc. or is that only type 1 and 2?

    Home Glucose tolerance test

I think a lot of my confusion comes from this http://www.phlaunt.com/diabetes/14046889.php "If your blood sugar surged over 140 mg/dl at one hour or stayed above 120 mg/dl at two hours, you may have what doctors will call "impaired glucose tolerance" or IGT. Another name for this condition is...

    Home Glucose tolerance test

Thank NoCrbs. Some strange things are going on with this meter. I took a reading at 1 hour 15 mins and it went up to 8.4! Surely thats too high. My 2 hour reading was 7.7... high again :( Then a reading 10 mins later and it was 6.1. What is going on. Talk about a rollercoaster.

Thanks Jason, nothing life a bit of humour to bring a freak down to level, lol! :) Do you not think they're high? i was led to believe they were. I didn't think non diabetics should be hitting 8 mmol?

    Home Glucose tolerance test

OK, I'm beginning to panic a bit more again. My 1 hour reading (I took 3) has just came out at 8, 7.6 and 7.9. Should I be worried?

    Home Glucose tolerance test

Thanks for your reply brettsza. I'm just no 100% if my bloods were screened for diabetes as well. Funny you should say that, I'm in the process of doing another ogtt just now so I can take my reading at 1 hour. Nervous again, lol. I had a litre bottle of Lucozade to use up. Thanks again.

    Home Glucose tolerance test

Everyone, I'm going to open up a bit more. I watched my friends grandad go blind with diabetes when I was very young and it completely scarred me. I have an absolutely terrifying fear of going blind. I know no one wants to go blind, but it plays on my mind far too much. Me putting 2 + 2...

    Home Glucose tolerance test

I read through that yesterday as well, thank you very much for posting it up. I followed the test that the NHS do. I found a couple of PDFs that several NHS hospitals around the country use. The rule was to use 410ml of original Lucozade, (which equalled 75g) take a reading just before...

    Home Glucose tolerance test

It's shocking really, Drs/ nurses never seem to tell you what on earth is going on. I just remember that I had to phone at a later date to find out my bloods. I rang them and they said all was fine. "Oh, OK then" lol! I had a look on the web and couldnt find anything conclusive if blood sugars...
