    Freestyle libre sensors

I don’t know how long they are likely to be supported, if they are withdrawn. That’s the issue.

    Freestyle libre sensors

As far as I can see the main difference is that 2 plus should last for 15 days before replacing. The 2s are being phased out.

    Freestyle libre sensors

Well aware of that, and fully understand having been a nurse for over 40 years. but Abbott could make the process far easier than it actually is. There’s an issue with the email form, it doesn’t seem to be answered or dealt with for days, for a start. I had a sensor fail on me a couple of...

    Freestyle libre sensors

I’D say in that situation, work with the BG meter. I find there’s a time lag with the sensor if I’m hypo, it takes longer to sense a rise in blood sugar than the sensor. Apparently the difference between measuring with meter in that situation is because interstitial fluid, which is what the...

    Freestyle libre sensors

That’s interesting. I have had the 2 Plus sensors on prescription since February, and they are either constantly falling off, or just completely failing for no reason. As in, I replaced my sensor today, started it and managed to take 2 readings about 2 hours apart, then the error message...

Anyone having big reliability issues with Freestyle Libre 2 Plus sensors?

Like you, I rarely have had a Libre2 plus sensor last the full 15 days yet. I’ve only had 3 so far and 2 out of 3 failed(one stopped working at 5 days, the other fell off at 6…). One has lasted 14 days. Terrible failure rate so far.

Are Bananas bad for a type two diabetic?

Unfortunately the Trebor mints won’t be helping. If you check the ingredients, the first 3 are sugar, glucose syrup and starch, none of which are our friends. Might be an idea to try to lower the consumption a bit somehow. They do a mini sugar free version, if that might help, although eating...

Regarding Rasam and Sambhar the typical South Indian soups or soup-likes

Lentils, peas, and rice are all reasonably high in carbohydrate. Best thing to do is test after eating as HSSS says above, then you will know how your own recipe affects you.

    Breakfast ideas?

The GI level is a bit misleading, some items with a low GI can spike my sugars to the heavens. I have abandoned GI tables in favour of lowering carb intake.

    Poor feet

Okay, I will be blunt. It is likely that losing sensation in the feet and what you describe, may be neuropathy(damage to the nerves caused by diabetes). This makes feeling in the feet or anywhere else you may have it very difficult, so easy to injure the feet. Hence that is why you are asked...

    Should a t1d follow a low carb diet ?

The doctors told us to eat everything, the main thing is to count carbohydrates and insulin units. If it's fatty and sweet... for example, a cake, then put insulin in 2-3 steps!!!! Immediately insulin and in an hour again insulin. Fat and sweet do not immediately unfold. And the sugar rise in...

    Should a t1d follow a low carb diet ?

A low carb diet would not lead to ketoacidosis, since that is generally caused by high blood sugars. A low carb diet would generally not lead to high blood sugars, if anything it would to hypoglycaemia, if medication isn’t adjusted properly.

    Diet Dilemmas.

Many people are very confused by this. It is now generally accepted that dietary cholesterol has a minimal effect on blood scolesterol, and that the more important factors are the HDL/LDL ratio, and ttriglycerides. I wouldn’t bother wasting money on anything which claims to have ‘plant...

    Non-steroid option for arthritis pain?

I hope you get satisfaction, but it’s difficult to quantify the amount of cartilage left, I paid for my own MRI because it’s quite difficult to get one just now on the NHS in my area. It will show loss of cartilage as narrowing of joint space. Unfortunately I have no idea how they estimate...

    Medication/insulin and taxi driving

    1. Next step….get PROPER info on where you stand, rights, etc. 2, You haven’t gone on insulin yet, so you may be worrying about something that might not happen. 3. Learn about low carb eating, lots of people have really improved their diabetes through the Low Carb Programme. 4. Try the...
