Hmmm Didn't and doesn't work for me! The amount I spend out in the sunshine means I shouldn't have got T2!!!

If the research finding is anything to go bye then why is it that those who live in sub-saharan region suffer from diabetes?

Well I suppose it does say reduce the risk not eliminate it.

Just a thought as I take both Prednisolone and Imuran I have to avoid direct sunlight so won't do me much good.

John, I spoke with a couple of renal specialists and a pharmacist after my transplant about the things I should avoid on certain drugs..and while I was warned about the skin cancer risks of exposure the sun while on anti-rejection drugs such as prograf and mycophenolate, I was told that corticisteorids were not an issue there...not that it matters to me as I am still on all of them..not sure what else you are on but my understanding is that avoiding the sun is nor more or less advisable on or off presnisolone. Just wondering about source.

Yes your right it was more the Imuran (azathioprine) I was thinking of just sort of lumped them together.

"While having treatment with azathioprine you should avoid exposing your skin to strong sunlight and sunbeds. Use clothing and a sunscreen with a high protection factor to protect your skin. This is because long-term or intense immunosuppressive treatment can increase the risk of developing lymphomas and other cancers, particularly skin cancer. Discuss this with your doctor."

Also preds have affected my skin quite badly so have to be a bit careful.

I think it’s more a comment on the very low D levels most of us have these days and its importance on many of our body systems.

What's it all about, John ? Things that help us harm us too. Nothing is ever plain sailing, eh ?
