Pregnancy causing highs

Looking for a bit of help or guidance from anybody who has experienced similar. So I'm 19 weeks pregnant and was only diagnosed with type 1 a few weeks before I found out I was pregnant. I have been managing my sugars as well as possible apart from dealing with regular hypos. My dsn has been fantastic at helping me through everything.

However in the past week (not sure if Christmas is a coincidence) but I've been having awful highs after meals that are getting higher and lasting longer. My libre has been great and showing me what's going on. I've had to up my basal rate slightly again after speaking with my consultant and up my carb ratio.

Does anybody have any ideas how to stop these spikes from being so harsh? I've been bolusing 10-20 mins before meals and having protein etc with each meal. It's really worrying what it's doing to my bubba I am in regular contact with my diabetes team but it's nice to ask people who have been through this!

Thanks in advance!

Try moving the injection back another 10 mins and see how that goes.
Congratulations on the pregnancy.

Hi - I also was diagnosed with Type 1 very close to finding out I was pregnant (a few weeks after in my case). I found around 20 weeks I needed to do some light activity after eating to almost help kick start the insulin - don’t think this is in any way scientific but it worked for me, along with injecting 30 mins before eating. Good luck, it’s a lot to deal with all at the same time.

Hi. During pregnancy your insulin needs will change and you will need more insulin. I've been diabetic since I was 4 so I wasn't anyway near the honeymoon period with mine. Speak to your specialist
