Huddersfield Town have relieved Danny and Nicky Cowley of their managerial duties with immediate effect.

The brothers have been sacked despite leading the Terriers to safety with a brilliant 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on Friday night.

In a club statement, chairman Phil Hodgkinson said: "we have made this decision in the belief that, in the long term, it is in the best interests of the club as we move forward. We have a different vision for the way we operate the club, and how our ambitions can be achieved.”

Well well well who would have thought it. Its not their fault that the team has been **** all season. Its that bloody idiot Dean Hoyle for selling out to that muppet from Southport who has no money. The Cowley's were working with what they were given. I wonder who will replace the Cowley's.

And for our final trick we got hammered 4-1 by Millwall. But it does not matter one bit cos we were already safe. So there you have it Leeds and West Brom Promoted with Brentford, Fulham, Cardiff and Swansea playing off. Down the other end its goodbye to Barnsley, Charlton and Hull. Look forward to the new season now whenever that will be.

Barnsley survive I think, as Wigan are due a minus 12 point penalty.....

Huddersfield Town are on the verge of appointing a new head coach, seeming certain to be Carlos Corberan.

We wait with bated breath for them to sign seal and deliver the contract. Hopefully he will do us a power of good. Trouble is we have a skint owner at the helm so money isn't readily available like we'd expect it to be in order to build a decent team and power up that table.

Championship complications
The Championship season reached a thrilling climax on Wednesday evening but there was heartbreak for Hull, Charlton and Wigan who finished in the bottom three.

However, there could be further twists and turns to come before the three teams dropping into League One are known for certain.

Here, the PA news agency looks at the complicating factors.

What about Wigan’s appeal?

Administrators have confirmed they are pressing ahead with an appeal against the 12-point penalty which left them in the bottom three, despite costs of up to £500,000 to the cash-strapped club win or lose.

They will argue against the sanction under the ‘force majeure’ clause, because of the wholly unexpected nature of the decision by the club’s owner, Au Yeung Wai Kay, to place them in administration.

What if they lose?

If Wigan lose the appeal there is no further recourse under EFL regulations. The administrators say they have not considered any further action in that event at this stage.

What if Wigan won?

If the points penalty was wiped out, or reduced sufficiently to take them out of the bottom three, then Barnsley would drop into the relegation zone. The South Yorkshire club might then consider action of their own.

What about Sheffield Wednesday’s case?

It has been reported that an independent commission has heard the Owls’ case, which concerns EFL misconduct charges over the circumstances around the sale of Hillsborough.

The Yorkshire club could face a penalty of up to 21 points if found to have committed an aggravated breach of the EFL’s rules, which would drop them to the bottom of the table.

Even a nine-point deduction would be enough to relegate them.

Could Sheffield Wednesday appeal?

Yes, the club would have 14 days to appeal against the outcome of the hearing. But the EFL also has the right to appeal if it disagrees with the independent commission’s decision, or the sanctions it imposes.

So could Charlton potentially get a stay of execution?

It is possible, if Sheffield Wednesday were deducted sufficient points to put them in the bottom three at the end of that process, and Wigan’s appeal was unsuccessful.

When will more be known?

Wigan’s appeal will be heard on July 31 but a decision on the case would not come for a few weeks.

If Sheffield Wednesday’s case has been heard, as has been reported, a decision could be imminent.

But if either side appeals against the outcome, a final decision in that case would not come until next month at the earliest.

Bit of a mess isn't it. But at least we aren't involved in it but it does mean we have to wait to see who we'll be playing next season. I wonder when the new season will begin. Will it be Early August as it usually is.

Carlos Corberan has been confirmed as the new head coach of Huddersfield Town.

The 37-year-old Spaniard succeeds manager Danny Cowley, who was sacked on Sunday - though Corberan's role will be head coach, not manager.

Town surprisingly chose to make a managerial change despite Town's safety from relegation to League One being all but confirmed by their 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Friday night.

The statement on the Cowleys' departure indicated they were not seeking applications, and it quickly became apparent that Corberan was firmly in the frame for the role.

He has been at Leeds for the last three years as under-23s manager and took on additional first-team duties after Bielsa's arrival the following year.

And there we have it hot off the press. Hope he steers us up that table next season.

Hopefully he will but he has to work with what there is now unless that plonker Hodgkinson dredges some money from somewhere to buy new players. Time will tell. 7 weeks to prepare for the new season now.

The 2020/21 EFL campaign will start on the weekend of September 12, the governing body has confirmed.

The news comes just an hour after the Premier League confirmed its 2020/21 campaign will start on the same day.

Two dates had long been identified as potential start dates - Saturday, August 29 or Saturday, September 12.

However, the September start date was always thought to be the one favoured by most clubs as it gives them more time to prepare for next season.

3pm York City vs Altrincham, conference north play off semi final, if we lose it'll be the last game played there and with no fans although there'll be a few hundred sharing an inch gap in one of the gates on the street outside :p

And meanwhile we've got harrogate flipping town (the big boys down the A59 in the conference national) playing in a play off that could see them in the football league.

Obviously I can't swear long and hard about it on here :p :p

Brentford v Fulham next Tuesday night. 1 will be in the Prem, the other staying in the Championship. Fulham have been there before and they came down with us 2 years ago.
