Hi all I'm new to the libre sensor I'm looking for some friendly advice in to getting the best out of it
I've currently been using for just over a month but a big chunk of this time was lost due to the sensor falling out twice and having to wait for replacements once the sensor stays in I feel so much more in control of my Diabetes instead of my Diabetes controlling me and actually love it I've managed to stay in my green range really well this week has been a bad one for many hypos which I personally find frustrating jelly babies are great for fast treatment of these but I'm starting to feel like I'm becoming a jelly baby myself I'm currently losing weight by following slimming world so hoping I can get the hypos back under control so I can continue with my weight loss journey x

Which type of diabetes do you have?
Are you in any medication?
Slimming world, and other low calorie diets are often not the best route for diabetics. Have you looked into low carb diets at all?
Have you much weight to lose?

I think you are trying too hard to get your blood tests low. Hypos are dangerous. As a Diabetic for 64 years I find l am trying too hard to keep mine low. My specialist is lovely but is counting every time the Libre goes below 4 and he is concerned of the danger to me. Be kind to yourself.

Hi @Soraya29 and welcome to the forums.

I agree with the others, we could really help you more if we knew your type of diabetes and your diabetes medication type (insulin, gliclazide etc). If you put it on your profile (go into the icon where your name is at the top right of the screen) we will be able to give you better advice. Lots of hypos suggests you may be on insulin and I agree with @Margie@home that too many hypos can be dangerous. From personal experience, the first time I used a libre I lost my hypo awareness because I got too many hypos. (Regained now, but I have to be careful).

But cgms such as the libre are wonderful devices and I would hate to have to go back to a glucometer. If you are getting too many hypos you probably need to adjust your meds, either on your own if you are confident to do it or by consulting with your diabetic team.

As regards avoiding the hypos - have you got the libre set to give alarms when you go below a certain level (eg my dexcom is set to 4.4)? That's assuming you are on libre 2. That way you can treat to avoid the actual hypo.
