What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi

I’m on lantus , as you probably know it’s a long lasting one according to everything I’ve read. The dose is 6 units as per endo recommendation. Chat gpt , when input all my symptoms and blood numbers in Recomended starting on 8. I’m happy for now starting in a conservative way.

The biggest problem is dealing with the bureaucracy which is called the NHS. - if I hadn’t gone private I’d still have another 10 days to wait to see a GP before being on a wait list to see an endo. Luckily I have the resources to by pass parts of this.

Good luck with your endeavors!!!
Conservative start id be happy with too. Less likely chance of hypo . Wish they were more conservative with all the changes here. Can't but help feel made liver way overworked when constantly had to eat junk to bring sugar levels up. Think I might research into private practice to see where the closest one to me is and see if it is within realms of possibility to do. Don't mind paying for treatment if faster! Paying though shouldn't be necessary to receive care someone needs especially when paying into the system for decades. Such a shame that so many people require to go down that route.

Onwards and downwards with your glucose levels hopefully not by too much ☺️

6.1…..sure am missing the 5’s
So, this morning I had ground beef and butter for breakfast with butter coffee. I then drank a pile of water, went to the gym for abs, yoga and a 30 min fast incline walk before coming home and testing my blood. 6.7
I am annoyed

Morning All. 7.3 today lowest in a while. @OrsonKartt thanks for sharing your story and I will be following your progress. The Endo told me 6 years ago that as soon as I reach diabetic levels he would recommend background insulin rather than pills. @mojo37 best wishes getting those numbers down and @DEBBIESCOTT hope you get better soon

6.4 to start the day. Hopefully better weather in store and maybe even BBQ weekend. No more rabbit food, back to eating almost normally with family. Said goodbye to all my friends from Watership Down in the hutch, not shed too many tears though. Useful experiment but sadly no real lowering of BS. At least I know that 3 weeks on a rabbit food diet and less than 30g carbs has no tangible effect on BS for me as there must be other things at play. Sure it is good as eliminates the peaks but has had negligible effect on overall blood readings which is what I was aiming for.

Hi penguin mum

Ten years ago I was as far anti medication as possibly can be. - in that time I think I’ve tried everything I can, keeping myself as informed as possible. - having only jabbed insulin twice I can’t say for sure if it will help, of course I believe and sincerely hope it will. In 3-4 months I figure I’ll know for sure.

Best thoughts ….

5.7 fingerprick libre 4.9 gave into temptation yesterday and had a wee aulds macronni and cheesy potato pie :O oft bad idea. i thought it's just a small pie ... wont have many carbs maybe 30ish? NOPE way way off looked it up afterwards after sugars +14 and after exercise swimming which usually results in drop like a stone. immediately found out reason why.

data from aulds.co.uk/shop/p/macaroni-pie weight 240g (the one i brought home to eat later... haven't) carbs per 100g Carbohydrate 27.2g = just over 65g for a SINGLE mac n cheese PIE!!! a good few years ago i sometimes would eat 2 of them if didn't have a little beans or something with it DOH :O enjoyed the taste whilst eating felt sick after figuring out the carb content and felt dumb for lunch choice made. I'd of been better off grabbing the wee scoop of icecream and usual soup or 1 slice of bread sandwhich. 2km swim after lunch. was still +8 3 hours later :O very small dinner around 15g carbs (watermelon yum) back in pool another 1km. 7.5km walking yesterday. loads of exercise went bed in the high 5's slept a little better than normal only up a couple of times during the night :)

brightside can forsee getting back into 100len+ soon :) thinking might be able to get back to 129 lengths (2 mile) in the future :) 64lengths is listed as 1 mile in a few pools i've been to, thats actually just shy of a mile

We don't get such things like that in Suffolk! (not that I know of)
Pastisio in Greece similar perhaps? I used to like that.
