What rise is acceptable 2 hours after eating?

Hello! I am new to bg monitoring, and am starting to test various foods to see what is good and what is bad for me personally.
Before my breakfast, I was 10.1. Yummy breakfast, and then waited 2 hours and I was 16.8. That's not good, is it.
Some people have a high reading 1st thing in the morning, check out "dawn phenomenon, that said the fast (before meals) should be i'm told, near to 4.7, then 2/3 hrs after food should rise to 8.00 or below...I'm new to all this too,Type 2, it was high when i was diagnosed, but now 4mths later I have got it down to 4.7 & 5.2 etc, by diet alone...

Quite an old thread you have replied to @eileen og .
Well done on your readings.
But the message is still there.

I was quite interested by my old nom de plume in use.
Well over a decade for me on here....... Where has the time gone?
Some old members as well, no longer with us.

Same here. After 2 small thin pieces of toast butter marmite. 1small flat scoop of oats with water, cinnamon powder and half tsp organic honey black coffee no sugar. 7 units Apidra. Still hungry! Maybe it's the vitamin *******. The vit D has glucose in it. It usually happens when I wake with a high. But told to go to bed with no less than a 10. Type 2...CGM always lower than finger prick as a 10 minute delay in timings which is normal.

Hi

I am just starting testing, and was was wondering, when I test 2 hours after I eat, what rise is acceptable.

So, I tested rice crispies today and went from 7.5 to 14.3 which is a big No.

But yesterday, I had dinner and went from 5.2 - 8.9. This seems like a significant rise, But as it is below 10(and close to 8.5), do i take that as being a success? partial success? or is it still too much of a rise?

I have read about levels, but just looking for a rough idea, on how much of a rise means that food is going to be ok?

Hi, 25 years with type 2 taking medication, Kerendia & Jardiance as I also have stage 3 kidney disease. Jogging along ok but wanted to share advice given to me years ago by my consultant endocrinologist, he said as long as my bg is below 10 he is more than happy. We all get told different messages & end up becoming obsessed....
