Would be helpful to know how many type 2 diabetics reading this specialist thread; take medication AND one dose of insulin a day. see poll .
.

Yes it might help. Thank you. All I wanted to know was whether there are many type 2s use 1 dose of insulin. And can knowledgeable contribute to this special thread. I was getting replies from type ones. I don't think that should be allowed. The answers didn't help

I’ve edited it for you, hopefully it helps.

On any specific threads in the future where you have asked for help from type 2s on insulin but a type 1 replies with what you think is an irrelevant/misleading answer please click the report button at the bottom of their post. A box will appear for you to say why you are reporting it. The moderating team can then review the post and consider whether it is appropriate.

Hi, I can’t be much help here I’m afraid as I put on 2 stone in 6 months when I went on insulin.

Your HBa1c does indicate the diabetes is under control. Do you use a libre?

Covid does do strange things to us, is it possible you were eating less when you felt ill? Have you spoken to your GP about the weight loss? If your GP isn’t concerned could you see the dietician again? Maybe rather than increasing carbs you could look at adding more fat in, using cream in soups for example?

Hi @Bobby105

I echo a lot of what @Lakeslover has said, that’s a rapid weight loss for no reason. Whilst we on the forum have diabetes in common we are only strangers on a forum who can share our experiences & aren’t medically trained or even if we were can’t give medical advice. Looking back on some of your posts you have big swings between your BG but still don’t go into hypo territory.

Although I’m no longer on insulin I was in the very beginning as I was misdiagnosed as T1. Misdiagnosis does happen for both those initially diagnosed as T2 & T1. It may be a good idea to ask your GP for tests to rule out T1 or LADA. People of any age can develop T1.

Also the unexplained weight loss is worrying, this could be a number of things and nothing to do with your diabetes.

The best advice we can give here is to book an appointment with your GP and ask for the T1 tests and other investigations that can rule out anything untoward linked to the weight loss. Your surgery has all your medical records of advice & tests you’ve had and they are best placed to make sure all is well or if something needs further investigation

Wishing you all the best

My GP says Im under control and doing well. Im not concerned re health , just on how to put weight back on after illness and keep my readings in check .
Having high blood glucose on a regular base can be a cause of weightloss. And you mentioned going up to the mid teens usually in the morning recently.
But like others have said, unexpected weight loss is a very good reason to contact your GP.

This thread isn't doing what was wanted. It wasn't meant to be about my diabetes at present. It was to find how many people on here were using meds and insulin. For type 2. Sorry it hasn't worked.... my 3 stone weightless has nothing to do with insulin. That isn't something I wanted to discuss. My fault I won't post again about type 2 insulin. I,t hasn't worked. Sorry
