Metformin tablets at the moment but maybe they are available in a smaller dose, or perhaps I could just chop them in half
Best check if they're the slow release/gastric resistant ones before halving them, if they are, it would make them "instant release" by removing the coating. If they're not slow release you could ask for those instead - they're supposed to be gentler on your stomach.

Ah. Good point. They are slow release ones, so the effect would be rather spoiled if I do chop them in half. I'll try to find out if they are available in a smaller dose. Meantime, I might take one every second day and see if that helps.

That was about an hour ago, and I forgot to click on "Post". Meantime, I decided to try walnuts again. Pecans don't really make a difference, but hey presto! Walnuts do. BG dropped right down into the 4s in minutes. Whatever I do about Metformin, walnuts are going to have to be part of the answer.

Another not low carb day, it featured cheese at breakfast and corned beef with vegetables from the garden for tea. I'll leave the rest to your imagination, I don't want to make people envious! :hilarious: Although I'm the envious one, I wish I had better control. My excuse at the moment is using up my hoard of cupboard and freezer things that will expire soon, but I have poor control a lot of the time anyway, hence the medications for which I am very grateful.

The carrots I sowed in July are giving a great little harvest at the moment, I'm going to roast some tomorrow with the first swede and a teeny tiny celeriac or two! I noticed the swedes in the supermarket are very small this year, I wonder if that is due to the heatwaves.

Woke later than usual but just couldn't shake off the grogginess - no surprise after a week of less than even my normal 3-4 hour nights and no possibility of laying down at all. BG in the 7's despite walnuts, so - jury still out after all. May just be related to the lack of sleep.

Breakfast: Ham and cheese on RyVita. Coffee. Only just finished it - actually still drinking the coffee.

2nd meal has to be slow cooked lamb shoulder with mixed vegetables (including a sweet potato).

Sausage and egg for breakfast, not sure about tea yet. I am feeling lazy and unproductive today, so I haven't yet harvested the vegetables to roast.

@Annb, slow cooked lamb has to be one of the best meats going! Sounds delicious.
