Morning
Had a jacket potato for tea yesterday (i'm from up north where yer tea is 6pm) the size of a small planet and miscalculated my dose like you do.
My alarm went off about 3 am and whilst i remember injecting 1.5 units of novorapid it was a very vague memory as i'm on some new pills which one of the side effects is they help you sleep.
Thank goodness for the novo pen memory doo dar.

All is well now with a 4.8 but i'm about to shift a load of leaves so i had better pop a bourbon in before i start.

Have a good day

Tony

Levels a bit low in the night and i'm tired tired tired this morning with a hint of grumpiness thrown in...
I hope no-one crosses me today .....

May the Wednesday world be warned lol

Happy monday
Had a shocker on Saturday where i went v low over treated then upped and downed all day and just couldn't get a grip...i reached the fourteens at one point on the back of impaired vision whilst up my ladder repairing my garage roof!
Back to normal sunday .......how does this happen from losing it saturday to normal service sunday anyone would think i don't know what i'm doing lol lol.
Just discovered a leak on arriving in work too but i've shoved a bucket under whilst i psyche myself up as i'm useless at plumbing give me a piece of wood and a drill any day.........

It’ll soon be time for my insulin pump upgrade (I received my current one on December 10th 2021) ironically I’ve never kept one for 4 years through no fault of my own except for this one. I already decided a couple months ago I’ll be sticking with Medtronic although still exciting to be getting a new one, I’m like a child at Christmas :hilarious:

I woke on 6.2 this morning and then i started to rise but my stroll in to work brought it back down and i'm at 5.4 as i type.
I was looking at my libre and i stayed steady all night and said to myself "what a lovely graph" .....

I giggled a bit and i wonder has anyone posted a thread about things only a diabetic would say?

Some of my own faves

" thats filth that is" when i see the staffroom at school when its someones birthday and they bring in those awful donuts covered in icing that were made 8 weeks ago theres about 12 of the buggers they make me gip!

"i'd need an armful of insulin for that" commenting on someones plate at a restaraunt.

"lets see what the lady libre has to say" even after 10 years i am in awe of my libre
and along the same lines i oft mutter " 4 millimeters " as i'm jabbing myself

Have a fantastic Friday everybody and please do forgive my madness

I think being T1 is enough of an excuse to let off steam and see the funny side of life. I often look at people with their enormous pieces of cake and wonder how anyone's body can cope with it!
I love it when my Time in Range has got back where I want it to be, but how quickly that can change but we all soldier on.
Have a great weekend everyone, I'll be chopping unwanted brambles and foliage off the Roman Wall at Calleva with a great group of volunteers tomorrow, I know how to have fun!

I really need to control the impulse of my BG levels going higher than I think they should, take some correction insulin, then decide to get on my exercise bike. I know if I don't do anything I can stay higher for too long for my liking, but a correction dose and the bike always means eating something.

Tonight I ate a little later than I should or usually do. Took an almost perfect predose with a little of it saved for when I ate. Then an hour after I ate I shot up to 9.7 (176), no I shouldn't be that high because I prebolused. So took some Afrezza to work faster and a couple of units to correct. Then decided I'll get on the exercise bike because that will stop me continuing to go up the fastest. It stopped it immediately and after 2 miles I was 8.9 (161), next reading 8.5 (153) next reading 7.9 (143) okay at just 3 miles I better get off now. Go to get my bed ready for the night and I hear the beep beep beep of my Dexcom. I look and I am at 4.8 (87) and dropping. Drink some OJ and grab a candy bar because the correction dose hasn't even hit yet.

I really really need to just get on my exercise bike with no correction first to see if my BG drops right away.:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Good morning
My alarm of doom (as i sometimes call it) went off at 3am with a 9.2 so i took 1.5 units of novo and woke at 5.45 with a 5.7 happy days although it should not have risen that high but hey ho.

On Sunday i was in the middle of Aldi and i suddenly realised i had forgotten to take my background insulin levemir ....i had a change in routine that morning was the only thing i could think of...
As i was a way from home i thought like one of these cam pump things and just topped up with small jabs of novo rapid.

Levemir is due to be discontinued and i shall miss its flexibility and this one small insignificant story is proof of that.

Happy times and places

Good morning all. Frustrated here. After a series of night time low alarm wake ups (all checked) I reduced the basal yet again by half a unit. Then I remembered why I usually put up with it. Sky rocketing highs above ten from a base of five from three am onwards. High alarms, five o’clock injecting and up early yet again as it just makes me wide awake. Then higher numbers all morning. Grr!

Your post sort of links to mine as i have always found levemir suits my body where i can tinker without too much effect.
In years gone by reducing your background was a major thing as it took days to catch up!

You have my sympathy @becca59 and out of curiosity what back ground insulin are you on?

I'm due to change and am considering my options.

Thanks

Tony

I’m on Tresiba. But have been on split dose Lantus and Toujeo. The problem is I need a lot less insulin from four pm onwards and more from three am, so split doses never helped with that. I just get up early as the act of taking insulin to counteract the rise totally wakes me up. Truthfully I think the cortisol rush that is happening is part of the problem. I’ve always been an early bird. But Five in the winter as a retired person is beyond annoying.

I feel your pain as i rise for work at 5.45 mon to fri......saturday i lie in till 9 but my levemir copes quite nicely but i do have a little novorapid first thing but only at weekend.
Funny lot us type 1s
I am not looking forward to changing from levemir but after 50 years i shall adapt and tweak and i do refer to myself as the tinker man from time to time.....

@becca59 I am a night owl but I have the same issue. My lightest settings in my pump settings are after 4pm and the lowest after 11pm. Then at around 3 a slight boost and at 4 a bigger boost and even bigger boost at 5 am for only an hour.

But I will all of a sudden randomly for anywhere from 2-10 days have lows at night. And it's not like you respond by changing settings when it happens once or twice. If it goes on for 3 or more days and if I remember I cut my pump settings by 50-75% at 11/12 at night for about 5 hours. That usually works until it doesn't, and I wake up to a high and am back to normal. Maddening to say the least! I usually do the same thing when I swim for the day, only a longer reduction of about 12-18 hours. That I will start earlier in the evening to late the next morning. I am my on my exercise bike daily but swimming really makes a difference in use for when I am swimming and almost a day after.

That's the major reason I still try to use a pump even though I have been having more site failures. But being able to vary the settings in dosing at different times or for a different day is a major plus.

@marie yes I am beginning to wish I was on a pump. It’s five am and I’m up yet again. Injected at three am and went back to sleep but still needed more. Hence the getting up. It is so much easier to get up, eat and start my day. The trouble is being unable to keep awake in the evenings. Starting to feel thoroughly cheesed off.

After yesterdays conversation relating to 3am 4am goings on i fear someone has put the fluence on me!
My alarm went off at exactly 4.28am showing 9.2 arrow up...i took 2 units novorapid.

It never does that as its usually about midnight as my novorapid at 6pm for my evening meal has worn off and its at that time i know whether i got it right for the night.

My libre just shows the 8s and not 9s so logic would dictate the 2 units at 4.28 went into action immediately which on reflection is a possibility as i'm so physically busy at work my sensitivity is at its strongest.

Walking and getting a wriggle on was made for me and i know i bang on about it all the time and i'd love to go for a ramble with half a dozen type 1s with libres to compare notes.....
Silly i know but hey ho.

Have a fabulous thursday everyone

Tony
