Hi my name is Sam currently living in London. Recently diagnosed as prediabetic following a kidney transplant. Retired now living with wife at home. I am here to learn more of diabetes.
Hi @sam5 and welcome to the forums. Your profile states you are taking insulin, which seems unlikely if you are prediabetic. (Most of the prediabetics here control their condition via diet.)
Tagging @Grant_Vicat who has also had a kidney transplant (and a pancreas one as well.)
Thanks for the tag @EllieM . I agree that taking insulin when prediabetic seems unlikely. Welcome to the forums @sam5 .
It would be interesting to know whether you are taking any medication which might cause prediabetes. I have not so far heard of kidney transplants causing diabetes, but my diabetes caused my progressive kidney disease (over a period of at least 40 years). Has your HbA1c remained at prediabetic levels (42-47 mmol/mol) ever since your transplant? It would als be interesting to have a rough idea of your normal diet. I shall be away from tomorrow so please don't feel you need to respond urgently. Wishing you all the best.
