What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

I’m back…it’s my birthday today and I did say I’d come back with a progress report….
So, my blood sugar readings were creeping up to levels I just haven’t experienced before. After a good long chat with myself I decided to go extremely low carb….less than ten a day and less if possible. It’s been a bit over a week and results are slightly disappointing. I actually forgot this morning, but yesterday it was 6.7….but it had been as low as 5.8. Just before lunch today….after 6000 steps and a leg workout it was 6.7…
I know it’s only been a week but you know that I’m always low carb ….just not overly extreme. I was hoping for better results. I’ll give it lots more time.
I did have my c peptide tested, it’s now at 444, it goes down every year by about 100 points.
I’m ok, just perplexed….
BUT! Holy smokes, is it a fabulous day out there. Brights sunshine and 20 degrees….soim going to stare at my garden and watch things grow
Happy birthday for yesterday

Yep I’m low carb not necessarily low calorie fat etc and lots of exercise last number of weeks …. Trying to do longer walk in morning and shorter in evening

Seems to be some random highs and readings are higher after walking but hopefully doing me good anyway
Low carb was certainly the way to go for me. I had tried a very low cal diet for a few weeks after diagnosis but I had to stop that on doctors orders. I then switched to keto which I had more success with, losing a good weight and lowering blood glucose. I am fortunate in that I don't really have a sweet tooth and I found keto no issue to follow, I was also fortunate in that my blood levels were not too high on diagnosis so I was allowed to try to control by diet. I note that you are diet controlled so I presume your levels were also not too high.
As regards the higher levels after exercise, I suppose you could look upon it that you are just depleting your glucose stores, which has got to be good. Wishing you continued success. :)

So that's 5.2 this morning. :cat: I am amazed at that and very grateful!

I have put on so much weight that my signature info is a bit of a laugh. I've increased 2 dress sizes so the weight needs to come off. I find that I can sustain an even weight during the summer months but come the winter the weight just piles on unfortunately it doesn't then come off again when the weather gets warmer. I have given myself a strict talking to and I am now watching what I eat as well as my carb intake. I hope my current high cortisol levels don't mess things up.

Happy belated birthday wishes. Sounds like you had a good day for it.

I had a lovely birthday, thanks for all the good wishes!
6.8 this morning, i’m so baffled….and frustrated.
Gym today was 50 min of walking, shoulder, biceps and triceps weights. Heading for a nice drive today to meet up with an old high school buddy. Will hit up a local garden centre too…my happy place.
It’s warm and sunny. Sadly they’re predicting a very bad fire season this year, sure hope they are wrong.
