What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Morning all on a sunny (with layers) Sunday here in L.A. My FBG on the soon to expire Libre was 4.6 but the last day or two of these sensors are notoriously unreliable according to A One and Google. I won't post for a while as there is no point fitting a sensor before Friday's scan and stabbing is just too Friction Maxxing for me. We - myself, JKP and MIL along with mum, dad, other grandparents and Zia (Aunt)- spent yesterday afternoon watching two grandchildren and others singing solos at a concert in a local village hall. One young man performed an A Capella version of love me do. All very convivial, free tea or coffee and as many ginger biscuits as a 96 year old could eat. So much work put in by the choir leader besides her full time teaching job. Enjoy Sunday - imma see what Bobby Dee Zee can do with Spurs. Peace be with you.

Sounds like a charming concert Ian.

7.3 at 03.35 today. Up a bit since breakfast, then down again - now 5.6.

My new (pre-loved) tablet arrived but, as might be expected, I'm having lots of trouble with it. Need help from Neil even to get logged on and from a friend to set up Zoom for me, which is all I want it for anyway.

What a wonderful afternoon at the concert @ianpspurs
A memory to treasure.

I will really miss your posts. Hope Friday's scan goes well.

6.0 this morning.

More training today for Bonnie around our busy little market town.

She is scared of mobility scooters and a really nice man on a mobility scooter stopped to chat with us to help her feel more comfortable with them.

It is so strange she is scared of mobility scooters as she is not scared of buses, lorries or tractors.

We visited Costa Coffee for more cafe training. The coffee was good and luckily the cakes were not very appealing.

4.6 at 05.20 today.

Having a bit of a struggle at the moment with the seller of the router that I bought from Amazon Marketplace. They agreed to the return but failed to send a label or to supply Royal Mail with a label. Amazon Customer Service gave me an address so that I could return the item, paying the postage myself, loss of £5.50 but better than a loss of £120. Royal Mail picked it up and that was the end of the story. No confirmation of receipt, no refund. Contacted Amazon and currently they are asking for more information, so we'll see how that goes.

I did order other things at the same time from people selling through Amazon, some of which are causing problems with delivery. I think I shall no longer purchase from Amazon Marketplace or from a supplier which is not Amazon itself. I have heard of quite a few problems with Amazon deliveries recently. Perhaps the organisation is depending too much on AI rather than actual people.

As a professional dog behaviour trainer, I suggest the noise the scooters make is stressing her. Their hearing is so much more sensitive than ours.
I hadn't thought of that @Outlier. You are so right about their hearing is so much more sensitive than ours.

Do you think she will get used to them in time?

Just discovered that Royal Mail couldn't deliver the router to the supplier because they are no longer at the given address and the router will be returned to me! We'll have to see what Amazon says about that now.

EDIT: Another irritatingly slow conversation with Amazon. I have an updated address to send the router to but now will have to wait for Royal Mail to bring it back so I can send it off again. :banghead:

The thing to do is pair the appearance of the vehicle with a yummy treat, remembering that if she is very scared she may be unwilling to take it. She should not be comforted, as that can reinforce the idea that the object is risky. Just be matter-of-fact as in 'here is the chair and here is something nice in your mouth" Distance is also important. If you were scared of wasps, you'd be less scared of a wasp 50 yards away than one right in front of you. So when she shows fear, take her away from the frightening thing. Then she sees you as her protector. Ask me again if something doesn't make sense to you.

Thank you @Outlier that is so helpful. It all makes perfect sense.
She is a very food orientated Labrador and a yummy treat is her idea of heaven.

Thank you for taking the time to give me strategies to cope with her fear and also how to avoid getting it
wrong.

6.9 at 02.45 today.

Yesterday I found my reading glasses after searching for them for a couple of days. They were in a waste bin under some paper being kept for recycling. Must have fallen into the bin just before the papers were dropped in.

This morning I couldn't find my Libre reader. It wasn't beeping at me (BG was steady within range obviously) so I had no idea where I had put it. Suddenly inspiration struck. Waste bin, beside my bed, and there it was. Must be careful about these waste bins.

Good morning everyone on a splendidly sunny start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.6 this a.m.

A sunny start yesterday so it was down through the woods with our granddaughter and onto the beach in the sunshine. A light lunch (we don’t eat breakfast). Then the unpredicted rain started - probably organised by Micheal Fish.

No idea what today will bring but I am currently in charge of a washing machine and quite soon, a washing line. What fun!

Good to read your posts again @Lamont D.

Hope your day is a good one. I have some koffy to look forward to and a walk in the sunshinge.

Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen

Blood sugars this morning were a low for me 4.8

This morning was a visit to the vascular clinic, I just got settled in the waiting room, secretly looking forward to long wait and a good read, when I got called in, the male nurse recognised Mrs J and myself. Much hilarity ensued, the surgeon was summoned, then dismissed and the hilarity continued while my legs were re bandaged. Some people would think how can you have fun under those circumstances, it’s easy, take very strong pain killers and know the staff, this particular nurse has known Mrs J and myself for at least 25 years across various clinics at the hospital.

Now I’m back in Tilehurst Towers, feet up ready for my afternoon nap, snooze, or .

Bye four now.

6.4 at 02.45 today.

Another outing today - echocardiogram at the hospital in Stornoway. While I am there I am hoping Neil will be able to sort out getting new tyres for the car.

Used my "new" tablet for Zoom yesterday afternoon. Terrific improvement on the old one both in video and audio. It seems to be quite happy with our old fashioned internet connection so that's good.

Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and those who committed aviation in earlier days.

Blood sugars this morning were and are 6.6 at this moment.

My tasks for this morning are firstly repair a picture frame, secondly countersink and drill some holes on the 2nd of the 3 bench seats I have to make. Subject to Mrs J’s approval.

This afternoon I have a face to face appointment with a real GP to see about either cutting down the dosage or coming off the diuretic pills, I have been taking for the last year.

Well that’s my day, I hope all who post and those who just read have a good day.

No information on what the medic saw from my echocardiogram. My GP will hear in a couple of weeks and should get in touch with me. Knowing my GP practice, they'll say nothing until I ask.

Legs day tomorrow, so that's another outing.

The tyre firm still wasn't open so Neil had to hunt around for someone else and did find one in the "commercial" area of Stornoway so has gone back this afternoon to get the job done.
