What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

5.9 this morning.
Had really good news yesterday. I have tried and tried to verify my identity with Companies House to no avail.

In desperation I asked for help from my accountant. He said that many people were experiencing the same problems. It took him a whole hour to verify both Mr K and myself. It definitely wasn't easy to do. It was wonderful to sit in his office and relax while he tussled with the Companies House website.

He very kindly refused payment for the hour he spent sorting it.

Really good to see you posting here @Lamont D . m
Also good that your rehab is progressing well

6.1 at 02.20 today. Legs day. The only day I can get the old bandages off and get water onto my legs. Very painful today though. Must have been too much on my feet the last few days and I'm paying for it now.

Bit of a struggle getting onto the bench/couch, whatever it is called, for my echocardiogram yesterday. Plenty of sloshy sound effects but it all sounded fairly regular. No results given to me but they should be with my GP next week, or the week after, whenever the hospital gets around to sending a report. I'll just have to keep asking at the surgery.

Neil managed to get the tyres fixed yesterday - cheaper than I had expected, so that's all to the good.

EDIT: Neil tells me that the tyres were the only ones on offer and not the ones he would normally go for but since we're not doing a huge mileage, they will do fine. The ones we bought in the past were more expensive.

Good that you are making progress @Lamont D

Good early evening or late afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen and those who feel old enough to have had a dinosaur as a pet.

My blood sugars this morning 8.1

As a belated birthday treat for Mrs J we went to the Farmers Dog for lunch today, the Jeremy Clarkson pub, you have to book on the 1st of the preceding month to make a booking, it is very popular and the food is of a high standard with a high staff to customer ratio. The staff are all very friendly. If you are anal about carbs, give the place a miss.

Have a pleasant evening all.

More grief with Amazon. Just received an e-mail from them to say my request for a refund is denied because I didn't give them extra information requested! I've spent hours backwards and forwards giving them what information I have. Spoke to someone (in India?) and have ended up with the promise that I will receive my refund after all. I'm not holding my breath. I think that's me and Amazon finished. I've spent thousands with them over the last year or so but now the service is just awful and I really can't be bothered with them.

Not that I expect they will miss me.

Good morning everyone on a splendidly quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.8 this a.m.

A bag has been packed as I am off for our annual father/son getaway weekend. This year staying in a remote, refurbished shepherds hut and exploring Brontë country. There is the abandoned village of Wycoller to explore as well as going up Withins Height - inspiration for Wuthering Heights. Shall we take Kate Bush music?

Hope you have a good weekend. All the best with your rehab @Lamont D.
Koffy, best make some koffy.

6.2 at 03.00 today. Gradual rise to 8.2 just before breakfast. Insulin to cope with that.

Experimental baking to do today. I have a friend who is pre-diabetic and has been told that she should eat oats in preference to other grains.. She has taken that to mean eat only oats, so that's what she does now. No vegetables to speak of, a little fruit (dried and fresh), eggs and dairy are the only things I can be sure she will eat. I am working on a few recipes to develop things that she will accept. The last thing I made was a sponge-cake made only with oat flour, dates and egg with a banana cheesecake filling. That went down well. Now working on a cookie recipe plus some of my oatcakes, which I know she enjoys.

That is awful @Annb. Not surprised you are cross with them.

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and…..( please insert a category of your choice )

Blood sugars this morning were 5.1

It’s another day at the coal face of retirement here in Tilehurst Towers, oh I have been told on the radio today is Saturday, whoops. ‍

Mrs J is descending the grand staircase and will demand I make her early, for her tea, yes dear is my reply…….
Must go, bye.

Just received another e-mail to say my claim has been cancelled. I think there must be 2 departments not talking to each other. I'm doing nothing more until I get the router back from the Royal Mail - if I do. If they do repay the cost, then I'll send it back again, if not, I'll keep it and try to sell it on E-bay.

6.6 at 02.20 today. Got to bed at midnight so that was just short of 21/2 hours in bed - about half an hour more in the chair.

Another 2 hour night. BG 5.3 at 02.15 today. Still in the 5's. Pretty sore today and walking is quite difficult. When I say walking, I am referring to what I normally do, crabbing around the house, holding onto furniture. Spent too long yesterday doing my experimental baking. Not entirely successful. I was trying to make semi sweet oat bars for the "oats only" lady. The result was not at all sweet but tastes fine as a semi-savoury bar to go with some cheese maybe. Today I had an e-mail to say she was not coming over (she has to wait in for a Tesco delivery). Well, they'll keep for a bit, so maybe she can still try them when she comes over and collects her oatcakes.

5.9 this morning.
Had a lovely walk around Stow Hall Gardens yesterday. This was the first time we had visited there.

After my lovely 2 week break am really busy.

Am relaxing with a coffee after a lovely meal in thr pub up the road. So have fully recharged before the evening classes.
