I almost felt chilly on my early morning garden inspection!
Me too, early watering was distinctly chilly! Lovely cool morning here, I will be getting some jobs done today although it's going to be warmer later so I'll try to get things done early. I always think when the weather is just right I'm going to sit under the garden umbrella and sip coffee watching the birds, insects and gentle breeze in the trees... but I rarely actually do that, there's always urgent jobs pulling me away :hilarious:

Porridge for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch with some fried courgettes and chicken with runner beans and resistant starch rice from the freezer with fried courgettes for tea. Courgettes are featuring heavily now!

It's 24c in the house this morning and I actually feel a little chilly - normally even in winter my house feels too warm at 20c.

Breakfast was sausages, black pudding and fried eggs. Coffee. Usually that would be fine, but soon afterwards I started feeling pretty awful for a while. It may, or may not, have been the breakfast.

I had a visitor while I was feeling bad and she stayed to make sure I was alright. Eventually I felt better and we had a cup of coffee and she had the coffee cake I made yesterday (and took some of it home with her, so it must have been OK).

May not have a 2nd meal today.

How strange to look out of the window and celebrate a bit of cloud cover today! It got far too warm yesterday after midday, the clouds disappeared and I had to abandon my garden jobs. I think the sun is coming out again today so it'll probably just be watering and harvesting and anything really urgent again this morning.

Porridge for breakfast, cottage cheese salad for lunch and chicken with garden vegetables for tea.

@jpscloud with you on the cloud celebration would be even better if they produced some rain! Sun when it emerges is so strong - it was way too hot yesterday as the day went on.
A few raspberries are ripening everyday just now so adding them to my morning low carb granola - puts carbs up but a bit irresistible straight from the garden.
Salad leaves and herbs will also feature in my salad lunch and for dinner I'm planning chicken fajitas in a low carb wrap served with salad. I'm also harvesting a few tomatoes a day to add to my salads.

Just had a small slice of soda bread with butter and coffee for breakfast.

There's tomato and lentil soup for later.

Cloudy here, and not particularly warm. Not actually raining but it has been damp since yesterday morning. No actual precipitation, but just that kind of fine sense of dampness in the air and a line of drips hanging from the guttering and railings.

I had a bowl of the lentil soup earlier today and it was enough to keep me going until the morning but I am going to make meatballs in tomato sauce ready for tomorrow. I don't expect to feel much like making an evening meal tomorrow - I have a late appointment with the Medical Consultant at the hospital in Stornoway and expect to be pretty worn out. He's not going to be happy - he wanted me to go onto one of those weight loss drugs to stop me putting on weight but the diabetes nurses won't recommend or prescribe it and the weight is still piling on because I can't move enough to burn off the little that I do eat.

Good luck with your hospital appointment tomorrow and hope that he'll be able to move things forward.

Another gardener here. Just resorted to covering my fruit cage with old bed sheets and net curtains to give shade. Then put all my various pots in there too. That way one sprinkler does the lot. Fingers crossed no hose pipe ban yet.
However certain shrubs are wilting, including the common rhododendron and some special ones. Rest of the garden is definitely dying off but I can't water it all. A winter flowering clematis that scrambles through an otherwise plain cotoneaster looks particularly shrivelled, as does some ivy.
We're about to head away for a week, no rain forecast so dread to think what we will come back to.

What a year we're having - I remember 1976 but I wasn't a gardener then! It's so sad to lose plants in extreme weather especially if they are precious for sentimental reasons. I hope your plants make a good recovery when it finally rains! We're supposed to get a band of rain on Saturday, but we'll see - the forecast isn't a guarantee!

Edit: forgot to wish you a very happy holiday!

@MrsA2 hope you have a lovely holiday - always an issue with watering when away but normally there is usually a bit of rain to help! Good idea 're using old sheets and nets as shades. We are lucky too still no hosepipe ban so managing to keep up with watering the pots and raspberries. No rain in our forecast either.
Lovely and cloudy again here for now and hoping sun will hide for as long as possible! I'm going to be measuring my South facing kitchen window today to order a more efficient blackout kitchen blind.
Having a few garden raspberries today with my LC granola, hummus for Lunch and cheeseburger with garden salad for tea.
Lots of bits to do today as having a long day out at the seaside tomorrow. Planning to make a LC quiche for tea but for lunch, for the first time in ten years, I'm going to visit a fish and chip shop and eat a piece of fish with just a bit of batter on the sea front rather than my usual LC picnic! Hope it is as good as my memories. Will Let you know on Friday!

Porridge for breakfast, cottage cheese salad for lunch and stir fried garden vegetables and sausage for tea. I have sneaked a couple of new potatoes in here and there, just harvesting a couple at a time from my containers. I cook them and chill them in the hopes that the starch will be resistant.

My battles with cabbage root fly continue! I was right, they are in everything so the only hope I have are the small seedlings that were covered. I've planted some up in fresh bought compost and covered them, and so far they look ok, I'll plant some more up today as there's some decent cloud cover and it's a bit cooler.

I have some celeriac and some carrots, and the kalettes in the raised bed look healthy so if at least some of the sprouts and swedes make it, I should have winter food in the garden. Just not as much as I'd like!

Have fun at the seaside and enjoy the fish. Sitting on the seafront is the best way to eat it too.

Just tea so far. Can't decide what to have for breakfast. I want to make porridge but I can't face what it would do to my BG. Anyway, I think I have to get back to my almost zero carbs - whatever the dietician and the diabetes nurse say. It's clear that, whatever doctors say about being suitable for treatment with a weight loss drug, others (I would have thought less qualified) are holding out against it (I wonder if the cost is anything to do with that). Anyway, I appear to be on my own, so I'll have to do it my own way. The only thing I am not sure of is if such an extreme diet has a deleterious effect on my other problems (kidneys/liver/heart/fluid). It's a huge effort for very little return in my case.

I suppose I'll have to have some bacon and egg for breakfast. I'll have to have something before I go to my hospital appointment or BG will drop too low.

Second meal will be the meatballs in tomato sauce.

I hope you have a wonderful time at the seaside and thoroughly enjoy your fish! Watch out for the new river cobbler switcheroo though, I got scammed in a normally very trustworthy pub a few months ago - it was just called fish on the menu and it was not a marine species! You can tell because it's wetter and mushier, with no proper fragrance or taste. It cost as much as cod, so I was really upset. I didn't say anything, but I won't order their fish again!

@Annb sorry I missed your post earlier - it's very frustrating that a doctor says GLP1 is right for you but diabetes team says not - it is very effective for me. I'm really sorry you're left with such a struggle. I know it's different in Scotland but couldn't a doctor override the diabetes team's decision?

Hope your appointment goes well and you're not too wiped out by it.

Apparently the final decision lies with the diabetes team. As far as I c an see, all my co-morbidities would be helped by me losing some weight, but they say there's insufficient work done on the combination of co-morbities that I have, so it's no.

The Consultant today told me that my GP had asked him to investigate my breathing/heart problems so I am in for more tests and scans over the next while. There's still something on my lungs but he's not sure that it's fluid and not scarring or thickening - hence another us scan and another chest X-ray. Another 24 hours heart monitoring is also being ordered and a change in my medication. Loads of blood taken today, some for our local lab, some to be sent away to Inverness. Took ages and several attempts to get it. At least he taking notice, at last.

@Annb I feel for you having lots of tests must be worrying for you and your family. You deal with your health challenges very stoically - I think I'd be feeling very sorry for myself, especially as you are feeling not very good on a regular basis. Let's hope this new set of tests and your medication change helps you. Take care and rest up - these appointments and tests will be using a lot of energy.
I thought I'd share a photo of my just ripened Tigerella tomato never grown a striped tomato before. Photo with a few other toms and salad and herb leaves from my garden.

I also made a panda flour low carb pastry quiche for tea tomorrow - makes great pastry.
