What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

6.2 this morning. Another busy day. It looks like another busy week ahead.
Although busy i am coping well and don't feel tired
It is a testimony to your skill and determination to deliver the best experience for your classes that you are busy. Do remember, its a marathon not a sprint.

Just had a phone call from the doctor that I saw at the clinic on Thursday. My blood test is back and the level of uric acid is so high, he can't think why I haven't had a severe attack of gout before now. Anyhow, he is prescribing some more pills and, as a back up, a steroid, in case the tablets make it worse for a while. He also said that he is in the clinic every Thursday, so if I need to see him about anything, let the nurse know and he'll come and see me! I'm absolutely amazed!

My brother gets gout, and I believe he relies on a supplement called sour cherry juice, which is thought to reduce gout flare-ups.

Yes. I've heard of that. I think one of the ways forward is to check on things in the diet that can cause problems. Problem is that many diuretics (which I've been on for years) causes it, and I can't just stop taking it.

8.9 at 02.45 today. Last thing before bed it was 10.9 because I had stocked up a bit before my 8 hour fast. A bit too much, obviously.

I told the GP who diagnosed gout in my hands that I don't have excessive pain in my hands but I forgot - a few weeks ago, I couldn't use either hand because of swelling and pain. Once things are over, I tend to forget about them, but I suppose that could have had something to do with it.

4.7 for me today. The predicted weather here for the rest of September implies I/we may not need to rush to unpack all my base layers, heavy hoodies, trousers and heated blankets. :woot: @Annb I have gout "episodes" triggered by dehydration, often after illness. The first episode and diagnosis was when I broke a wrist playing football and was running in bin bags to maintain fitness. Good luck with looking for guidance on foods to avoid since I have found that among two different sources there are 5 different opinions. Staying hydrated and avoiding or at least being very careful of amounts of salty food helps. The drug Allopurinol is often used to keep levels down. White fish seemed to be a trigger for me in the past. Talking of food, all was harmony here in Chez P as the meal JKP chose from HF was tasty and controlled my bg as I like. @Mrs Redboots hug for the low energy start. Peace be with you all/y'all.

I forgot to mention that today is/was known as The Hardest/Greatest Day - see attached. #1 son was working at Duxford over the weekend where there was the Battle of Britain Air show. My dad did his National Service in the RAF and this region is dotted with air bases. Dad took our sons to these displays and had a good collection of books on the aircraft of WW2. Lest we forget, indeed.

5.9 this morning. Last night I started getting stuff ready for classes today. Mr K reminded me that I had taken the whole day off as l.had some dental treatment today.

So last night I quickly sent out texts to class members to remind them. It turns out that I was not the only one on autopilot and had forgotten about it.

Am having a wonderful day. Which sounds counterintuitive.
I took an Excel bus into.Norwich. It had lovely comfortable seats and I actually had a table.

The prep work for the crown was actually ok and they scanned my tooth and the machine made a prototype crown in 10 minutes. So no more casts like they used to do.

Had a wonderful meal at the Belgium Monk pub next to the dentist. Then have had a little bit of a shop and am now in the M&S cafe drinking coffee. They will fit the crown at 4.30pm. Then hopefully another luxury bus back home.

Thanks. I have actually done everything I wanted to do: booked a hair appointment for the end of next week, made soap, written Sunday's sermon and sent off the Order of Service to the Steward... only thing was I didn't eat all that well (mostly bought, ready-prepared food) which may or may not affect tomorrow's reading. We shall see.....

Evening all. Well, here I am again after a long period of absence. It seems the forum is very much quieter than I remember but I am glad it's still here.

My fasting today was a stinky 9.9 but I'm working on it. I fear i let go of disciplines and now I'm paying the price. So I'm back to some stringent diet control, more water and much more exercise. The latter being more difficult as I'm in the latter stages of recovery from bowel cancer, so exercise has not been my biggest priority. Still, I'm now starting to get out each day for a walk and that's a start.

Anyway good to be here .. and stay well folks.

5.6 at 03.15 today.
Hello there, @Welshman1952 . Good to see you. Good, as well, to hear that you are recovering and managing to get back to a routine that suits you. You're right. This forum is much quieter than it was but there are still some sound people around. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

4.7 here today. @Welshman1952 good to hear from you again and excellent news on the progress of your cancer treatment. @Mrs Redboots a successful day yesterday and a busy day today. More autumnal here today probably something to do with the time of year. Back to two grandchildren here again this week now JKP has recovered. Peace be with you all.
