how many times can diabetes be blamed

I was at the gp a couple of weeks ago, my ear was painful. gp said my ear drum was inside out I think was what he said. said I should hold my nose and blow as you do to make your ears pop. so I tried this, it was very painful and so I stopped. I thought it had righted itself after a few days as the pain seemed to go.

Last night I felt searing pain in my ear so made an appointment for gp. In I go to see him, he looks in my ears and say's the eardrum was fine but the ear canal was inflamed and once again blamed the diabetes ( numerous infections, skin rashes, swollen feet, now my ear.) everything I have had since diagnosed 4 months ago has been put down to diabetes. is it possible for diabetes to cause so much trouble especially as I keep my bg's low. 5s & 6s.

Does get blamed for many things with gp visits unfortunately. Alot easier to blame that than find the actual cause and correct treatment, cheaper too

Diabetics are prone to "everything" lol ! Easy one for the docs ! Even my dentist said we are prone to gum disease lol !

My old gp would put anything down to diabetes

You're not wrong there lads. got problems with teeth too well one and it would be right in front :x

Almost endlessly it seems
I went swimming and had classic symptoms of swimmers ear ( outer ear infection) my gp reckoned " normal adults don't get inner ear infections but diabetics do" and proceeded to treat it as that rather than the obvious outer ear infection. 4 excruciatingly painful weeks later I demanded to be referred to an ENT specialist at the hospital who confirmed the gp had misdiagnosed and mistreated the infection and put me at high risk of osteomyelitis of the skull which just happens to have a high mortality rate!
The hospital got everything cleared up in a couple of weeks - the most ironic / frightening bit was that the GP was the diabetes specialist GP in the practice - my diabetes is now managed by the hospital
