How long after a hypo can you basal test?

I'm getting mixed answers off google!

I normally test 15 mins after. I have had results of 3.6 or so just before a meal before - I eat my lunch, give it 5-10 mins then test and inject some novo rapid (remembering it was low so knocked a unit off the count)

If its really low - like in the 2s - sometimes ill test 15 mins after and ill still be hypo tho - that is REALLY annoying, but u need to know where u are if you've gone that low, especially if your active

I would leave it at least 24 hours to do a basal test after a hypo.

I agree with Dave, abandon the basal testing today and start afresh tomorrow.

That's what I've done, had a hypo at 2 this morning, hypos at 2am and 5am the night before!
Not having much luck am I! Haha
If it happens again tonight I'm going to reduce my night time basal.

If I have had a hypo due to a bolus then I will wait for 5 hours clear from having reached normal levels.
So, if I had a bolus at 8am and went hypo at 10am but my levels remained good from 10.30 to 4.30pm then I would do a basal testing from 5-10pm.
If its a hypo from a basal (night testing) then I will just repeat the next night.

However, I am on a pump.

I'm doing this so I can get a pump

I have a split dose of levimir at the moment which I've been tweaking for the last few weeks. I needed to test my morning basal this week but didn't think I could if I'd had a hypo a few hours before I got up.

I've been on basal bolus for about 10 years I think and I don't ever remember doing this testing!

I have a split dose of levimir at the moment which I've been tweaking for the last few weeks. I needed to test my morning basal this week but didn't think I could if I'd had a hypo a few hours before I got up.

I've been on basal bolus for about 10 years I think and I don't ever remember doing this testing!

Snap! Pump assessment clinic tomorrow so I did a basal test on Friday night. It is my proof that i rise until 3am (usually from 7 to about 14) then I drop rapidly from 3-4am and rise again until I get up.

If they can find a way to control that on MDI then I'm all for it, if not I'll take a pump thanks haha

I'm getting mine because of my injection sites. They're awful! I'm taking just under 100 units of insulin a day because it doesn't get absorbed properly

I haven't don't any night testing yet, I'm trying to get my days right.
The doctor keeps upping my dose but it's not making much difference anymore. I sit at between 10 and 13 most of the time, corrections and things don't really work.
He said that to get a pump then your hba1c needs to be 8.5 or above. Last test was 8.4, typical!!!!

I'm waiting to hear if they'll fund it or not. Fingers crossed!

Interesting..... By endo said mine should be over 8 to get a pump. I was 6.9 but that was due to recent illness, it would have been lower.

I cried, he referred me to pump clinic anyway

I have had a lot of lows due to exercising. My basal dose is very low (5.5u) and bolus ratios very sensitive so it's hard to manage the exercise. I had one reading of "LO" a few weeks ago.

Fingers crossed you get that basal test done!

You can get funding if you have a lot of hypos as well so you should be able to get one.

I've had hypos for the last two nights so I think I'm going to reduce my evening basal anyway, I'll never be able to do my test otherwise!

I think they should rename it the "pain in the **** period"

Had a great 20km run yesterda, managed BG throughout, mild low of 3.8 in the afternoon, no probs.

Today though, 10,4 after breakfast, 9.4 after lunch
