Hi,
I went to the dentist on Thursday with an infected tooth, I suspected an abscess as I have all the symptoms. The dentist took one quic look at my mouth and said I didn't have any infection and told me to come back to have my teeth cleaned.
I went back yesterday with severe pain as the infection has spread into my jaw and he took X-Ray's and told me that I did indeed have an infection and that the tooth has to be extracted which is taking place at some point in the future.
To my horror, he refused to provide me with antibiotics telling me that the infection wasn't bad enough, and to go back to him when the pain becomes to much to bear and he will then have another look.
I have been in agony all day and I cannot open my mouth or chew and swallowing is difficult, basically I cannot eat.
I'm type 1 diabetic and insulin dependant and need to eat, but I can't as the pain is to great!
I read on the NHS website that people with weakened immune systems should be given antibiotics? Well I've had cancer twice and with diabetes too I think I would come under that category?
I'm in bed now sucking on a boiled sweet in hopes of staving off any hypos..
I don't know what to do..I went to A&E and as soon as I told them I have a tooth infection they just turned me away..
I'm scared I might have a hypo in my sleep..
