Advice about increasing calcium while on low carb diet

I had very low levels of vitamin D about 2 years ago and I have taken supplements since then. I will ask for it to be checked when I have my next hba1c. I like the idea of grated cheese on my veg.

Advice about increasing calcium while on low carb diet

Hi everyone, I have just had the results of my bone density scan having broken my arm in a fall in December. My spine is normal but the bone in my hip is slightly thinner than normal. I have been low carbing for over a year now and I have reduced my hba1c from 143 to about 60 without any...

    The Boxing Day food blitz!

Ha ha, sorry to disappoint @energise but my fall was pretty big standard. As much as I would love to claim that I tripped as a result of quaffing Mojitos in a ritzy bar on London's skyline I actually fell on my way home from a hygienist appointment. Not much of a reward for being a good girl...

    The Boxing Day food blitz!

Ahh @Energize, you'll get there. You talking about bumps and bruised and hard landings made me smile, I have an actual broken arm from my hard landing and I was completely sober on my way home from the dentist. X

    The Boxing Day food blitz!

Hi @VashtiB, I feel lots better today, still a bit higher than my usual but I'm not feeling quite so sorry for myself today. X

    The Boxing Day food blitz!

I received absolutely no food or drink related gifts whatsoever. I got a nice scarf too and some lovely pyjamas. That's made me feel much better. X

    The Boxing Day food blitz!

I ate one meal yesterday. I had roast turkey, sprouts, two spoons of carrot and turnip, a spoon of creamed parsnip and one roast potato. My level went from 7.6 to 13.8 at two hours then fell to 11.0 later in the day. It was 10.6 first thing this morning. I've had turkey and sprouts today and...

Type 2 Will taking painkillers increase blood glucose levels

Appointment at fracture clinic went well, bones are well aligned so surgery not needed at this point. Will x-ray again next Tuesday, nurse explained that they will monitor me closely because if the bones do move out of place swift action is needed but hopefully it will heal successfully. BGL...

Type 2 Will taking painkillers increase blood glucose levels

Thanks @DCUKMod I fell outside the university and was helped by two student medics and a student radiographer, they were absolutely brilliant. Two men from campus security brought a car round and transported me to A&E. They said that lots of people fall there because the granite paving is...

Type 2 Will taking painkillers increase blood glucose levels

Oh dear @DCUKMod you have been in the wars too. I know exactly what you mean about protesting that one's perfectly fine and worrying about people assuming that your injuries are the result of violence. Daft aren't we? I'm just hoping that Tuesday's x-ray rules out any need for surgery and...

Type 2 Will taking painkillers increase blood glucose levels

DCUKMod It took me ages. Blood glucose down to 8.8 after a dinner of roast chicken. Medication is controlling the pain until about 30 minutes before the next dose is due and a scary bruise has developed today. I'm on the mend.

Type 2 Will taking painkillers increase blood glucose levels

Thanks Antje 77. I don't know where I would be without the medication but I'm hoping for a quick recovery.

Type 2 Will taking painkillers increase blood glucose levels

I've been prescribed codeine and paracetamol after breaking my arm on Wednesday and my blood sugar level has been between 10.0 and 17 mmol/l since then. I haven't felt like eating much so I have only had coffee and cream and 97% meat sausages since I fell. I don't take any medication and my...

    Feeling down.

Hi Raymond, it's a long time since I was a teenager and I have Type 2 diabetes rather than Type 1 but I do know what it's like to feel as though everybody else is doing better than me. Like DCUKMod says, all any of us can do is our best. I hope you will talk to your Dad about how you are...

    DLA/PIP Loss :(

You must appeal the decision but get help from someone who knows what they are doing. I would suggest the CAB or a local welfare rights organisation. Some housing associations have benefit maximisation staff. A high proportion of decisions to reduce DLA and PIP are reversed on appeal. If the...
