Saw Diabetes Nurse, feeling very distressed

@mariavontrapp oh dear, she is totally 'old school' as are a lot of gp's and nurses, but ... try googling Dr David Unwin who is a practicing gp in Southport England. He also uses a Libre by the way and he has put the majority of his diabetic patients into remission! He is such an inspiration...

    Eyes

@Bichon_Lady I was exactly the same when diagnosed in 2016 so completely understand. Also it took me absolutely ages to understand what Ac1 was but eventully the light bulb went on! Just vent on here if/when overwhelmed or ask any questions no matter how silly you might think they are x

    Eyes

Awww please don't be scared as the eyes take up to several weeks to adjust. Mine certainly did! You are amongst like-minded friends here, many who will have gone through the fear and anxieties that you are experiencing, but the more that you communicate those fears then the more you will be...

    Triglycerides:HDL - Insulin Resistance

Hi I just wondered if you do any intermitant fasting (apologies if you do and I've missed the thread) as this is what brought mine down and helped it remain at 38 for two years. Mine's risen to 40 this last check but I'm under stress with a loved one now in end of life care

    Puzzled at my results

Thank you @shelley262 for your very kind thoughts on this. I do usually have nuts (walnuts, pecans and almonds) in my cupboard for snacks although I don't often have anything between meals. I also usually keep a bar of 85% dark chocolate in should I fancy a square. Typically I had neither in...

    Puzzled at my results

@ajbod I know just what you are saying even though different worries stresses and strains. They all amount to the same thing in that we are crushed for a while and forget to care for ourselves. It's wonderful to see that you were only seeing a small rise in your A1c just like myself. Hope life...

    Puzzled at my results

@KennyA You think like I do! Having mastered my condition successfully three years ago, I have a strong urge not to backslide since I feel so much better. However we don't prepare for devastation happening in our lives, do we, and thoughts of my own well being took a back seat. Thank goodness...

    Puzzled at my results

Thank you. As I said I did stick to my usual meals but ate too many chocolate snacks that are my daughters. Normally I can ignore them and have no desire to touch them and today I am back to leaving them alone thank goodness x

    Puzzled at my results

Hi everyone and hopeing one of you can solve this mystery perhaps? I went for my diabetic review yesterday, expecting to be disappointed if truthful, as I have slipped somewhat since December. I sadly have a terminally ill close family member ... became ill suddenly ... so a tremendous shock...

In defence of low carb subs

I have to disagree with you about the cauliflower (if I may). I steam my florets in my £10 steamer from argos and then turn them into my processer, where I add butter, cream cheese, a little garlic powder sometimes too, and it turns into the most delicious 'mash'. I served some to a visitor...

    Motivation

Hi @BeyonceBee . I enjoyed reading this and felt your motivation! It's strange how we all get surges of motivation, isn't it, With myself it's gardening so I'm absolutely full of it from April until October, but I have to seek it other ways during the winter months (which can be depressing) ...

    Feeling down

Awww @HayleyW80 . You have been through the mill so not surprised that you are feeling fed up with foods that you eat. It's happened to me after losing my son so I understand in a way. I think we have ups and downs where our diet is concerned also. I had always had Greek yoghurt with pumpkin...

Hi everyone! Am I the last to discover Dr. David Unwin?

I was scrolling through youtube last night and found Dr. David Unwin, who was giving a talk in Manchester (UK) and I was totally enthralled with it. He will hopefully one day get through to ALL of our GP practices and help them to see the light concerning Low Carb eating ... which he introduced...

Type 2 Three day water fast ... a question for all who do or have done this please.

Hi @Lamont D ... the one thing I did notice yesterday morning (day two) was how light and 'free' I felt while out walking! Hard to expain what I mean really but maybe you know the feeling? I sort of felt as if I could almost fly if I wished to! xx

Type 2 Three day water fast ... a question for all who do or have done this please.

Thank you so much, and I am pleased with how well it all went. It was far easier than I expected taking into account that I've been quite 'lost' with my eating habits recently xx

Type 2 Three day water fast ... a question for all who do or have done this please.

I didn't know that @Resurgam and YES ... it was my way of trying to get into ketosis following a dreadful five months. I've just eaten my first meal after 72 hours fasting and just had an omelette stuffed with red onion, mushrooms, mixed peppers and a sliced tomato, so hope that wasn't overdoing...
