    Help or advice needed please!!!

I am normally on a half unit of nova rapid for every cp I eat but lately just at breakfast I've found my post meal readings high so I changed to a 1:1 ratio. After 2 hours my reading was 6.6 but then an hour later I was hypo. So this morning I used a 0.75:1 ratio and after 2 hours I was 19.2...

    Nova Echo pen

I recently received a nova echo pen off my diabetic team capable of giving half units and showing me how much I last injected. My BG levels went through the roof when using it so I'm now back to my previous pen. Does anybody here use one and how do they find it? Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

LOW CARB, LOW CARB, LOW CARB

Hey Adam that might work for you and that's fine but you certainly control you BG levels and very well too if you eat carbs. For example I'm a 23 year old male just over 6ft2 and weighing 82kgs. I eat on average 250g of carbs on an average day and could eat up to 350g of carbs on an exercising...

    BI dose

I've a feeling my backround insulin needs tweaking!! I take a spilt dose if levemir of 6 in the morning (7am) and 8 in the evening (7pm). I then take nova rapid with meals at a ratio of 0.5:1. 1:1 for breakfast if I haven't been exercising the evening before. I've noticed I'm perfectly in range...

    Kerry's Insanity workout!

Kerry make sure you take a good rest and get yourself better. When you're sick your body needs time to heal itself and exercising will only delay that process!! You'll be back in no time :-) Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Can't control Blood Sugar Levels

In relation to the hypo treat it straight away with fast acting glucose ie lucozade, 5 glucose sweets, jelly babies etc!! The problem with using fruit and scones is that they are slow releasing carbs and when you're hypo you need to treat it straight away. Scones have huge amounts of carbs as...

    Exercise and diabetes

Something I've come across as my time as a type1. I really don't think enough emphasis is put on exercising to help manage our disease. I'm on my off season at the moment so I'm doing heaps of running and soon to be back in the gym to tone up. I've noticed my levels are excellent when I exercise...

    BG Rising

Hey Hale. I'm recently a DAFNE graduate too. I've found this happening to me recently but I narrowed it down to my lack of activity due to illness. My ratios have changed also just in the morning, I'm at a 0.5 ratio but now at at 1:1. Funny the stories you hear from others on DAFNE, we had...

    Tonsillitis

Sounds hectic alright but it's worth a shot rather than getting my tonsils out. After the initial 10 day high dose the next 6 month dose is only a tablet a day before bed. The theory behind it which I'm led to believe is that it will kill off the small amounts of infection in the tonsils and...

    Tonsillitis

Just been prescribed a 10 day course of penicillin followed by a 6 MONTH small dose of penicillin. Doctor is hopeful that this will kill it off and allow me to get back training full time and not have to get them taken out. Bring on next season!! Sent from the Diabetes Forum App

    Tonsillitis

Has anyone had constant cases of tonsillitis that cause havoc with your BG levels? If you got them removed how was everything after the op as I presume you're on a more liquid diet for a few days although I hear it's got to eat solids as it helps with the healing process. Cheers Sent from the...

Any advice would be great thanks.

Hi just looking for a bit of advice on the following. Dinner yesterday BG was 6.7 and 3 hours later it was 5.7 then before bed checked and I rose to 9.3. I had nothing to eat since my dinner and bed. Didn't correct my 9.3 and when I woke I was 6.9. Anybody have any clues in what's happening...

    Testing after eating

Hba1c is currently 7 and I'm 23. I'm big into my sports and exercise so don't think the low carb option it me just yet as I need those carbs for fuel. Thanks for the reply
