Peter Attia interviewed Jason Fung today

I’m only part way through but I have a question. Is anyone who puts on weight becoming insulin resistant?

    Well done!

Eat breakfast to halt Dawn Effect?

I skip dinner now. Works best for me. I do t at the weekends but during the week I have breakfast (eggs) and then a late lunch when I’m hungry (eggs are so filling!) and then I just don’t feel the need to eat again.

    Carb Cycling

I agree. I spend a lot of time in the US with work and it is hard to find decent food on a budget. Even going higher end with restaurants it became apparent that veggies were hard to find. I had to order three side orders of broccoli to get anywhere near the amount of veg we’d eat in the UK! At...

Type 2 Fasting before blood tests

I can request it from the ones the doc has sent me for hence I do Medichecks myself. It’s a pity they don’t do it.

Type 2 Fasting before blood tests

Why do the NHS not do a fasting cholesterol? Is it because it’s not a full test?

Type 2 Fasting before blood tests

Thanks @bulkbiker. I hadn’t realised the actual reasons.

Type 2 Fasting before blood tests

Does it matter how long you fast? I know there is a minimum, but is there a maximum? Edited to add - Also, annual checks are due and it says cholesterol non fasting. Is there a reason for that? I’m having some Medichecks done at the same time which do need to be fasting. Will that muck up...

    Need advice!!

Welcome. Losing weight helps if you need to lose weight but I was diagnosed with a whopping 112 (12% +)but slim and I’ve managed to maintain my weight but drop my Hba1c to 36 for a year now by following the wonderful advice in here and following a very LCHF/keto WOE. I consume roughly 20g carbs...

    Holiday insurance

@brottonmoores I can’t see what type you are but as T2 not in meds’ it added £20 odd to my annual policy this year. Just to give an idea.

    White wine & soda?

I probably have my full quota a week. It is one of my few pleasures since going ultra low carb. Everyone needs something!

Type 2, LADA or Type 1 advice

@Bwel Medichecks do a C-peptide year for £99, but they often have a sale. I would imagine BUPA and Nuffield hospitals would also do it, especially if you want a consultants appt too. Give them a call I’ve always found them very helpful.

    Holiday insurance

If you google holiday insurance comparison it will give you a chart with a star rating. If you then read in the reviews it will give you data on how likely they are to pay out. Be very careful with insurance. Many many people will tell you of this or that policy which was cheap, but of course...

I didnt see it coming (Type 2)

I agree. The doc is unfortunate that they haven’t met anyone who has achieved normalising BG levels. I was Hba1c if 112 and three months later at the next test it was 36. All thanks to the wonderful support here and a LCHF then keto diet. Good luck

Do not want to lose weight

I have to maintain my weight as I don’t need to lose any. I achieve this by upping my fat intake so choose fattier cuts of meat (usually cheaper!), eating nuts and having cream with my berries. It’s been quite easy in 20g carbs a day. Good luck. Edited at add diner forget avocados! Great way of...

    im fed up

Yes @ARMO I’d like to know as well. As a slim vegetarian (which was predominantly vegan), how could I develop T2 if you claim it heals it. Genuine question. Edited to add I went to normal figures within three months by changing to LCHF and eating meat and dairy. Something I struggled with to...
