I've been very, very,, very stupid.

Echo what has been said already. Stop beating yourself up and be glad you’ve realised what’s happening so you can rectify it. 9 weeks haven’t been wasted, you’ve done great work regardless. And don’t forget Hba1c test is heavily weighted towards the last weeks against the earlier weeks...

    Low carb alternative flours!!

Thanks for heads up @retrogamer Didn’t realise it was on sale. Yes @JenniferM55 cost of one packet is silly, although still cheaper than other Amazon sellers! 5 pack the way to go. Checkout Sugarfree Londoner for marvellous Yorkshire pudding Lupin recipe. Tastes as good as hi carb version

    Low carb alternative flours!!

The Lupin flour I buy is finally back in stock with Amazon. I buy the 5 pack option, way cheaper than other sellers and H B. It’s the same brand that Morrisons sell, if your lucky enough to find some...

    Low carb alternative flours!!

@JenniferM55 yes I use that particular one. Is a good product. Wheat gluten, Lupin flour and 1 egg makes a more than acceptable pasta dough. Have yet to use Lupin flour in bread. Please let me know if you crack it!

Another fan of Lupin flour here. I make Yorkshire puddings with it, pastry and pasta. Currently on offer in Morrisons.

    Doctors Advice is confusing

Should add, the walk is daily. The exercise video 3/4 times a week. Totally agree with @JoKalsbeek Diet totally overrides exercise for blood control, but exercise will help in so many ways. Trust your meter rather than your current GP.

    Doctors Advice is confusing

Hi @pb&cj If it helps, I settled into a routine after my initial diagnosis (hba1c 87) after going through the usual panic and feeling overwhelmed. I switched to low carb diet and soon felt the benefits, my legs were no longer painful and I was able to move again! I walk my dogs in the...

    T2 HbA1c results

Metformin, 5mg Dapagliflozin and Atorvastatin. The statin I stopped taking after a week or so. Dapagliflozin was great initially, my leg pains disappeared within 48 hours.

    T2 HbA1c results

Diagnosed April 24, 2023 with a shocking 87. Started on meds, found this wonderful forum and changed diet/exercise. Weight loss enabled me to exercise and function again. First retest July 24 had dropped to 38 ! All meds then stopped, am due another test October 24 to see how I’ve done...

Questions re first diabetic nurse appointment tomorrow.

Make that 3 !! Mine is fab too. Discretely says Eatwell is outdated. She took notes of several of my lo carb recipes and recommended I don’t attend the Diabetes Education course the practise offered me. You’ll end up arguing with them she giggled. Nice one @Margarettt

    Cornish Holiday Help!

Hi, hope you enjoy your holiday in Cornwall. As a Cornish born and bred maid, giving up pasties has been the hardest thing for me. I allow myself one after blood tests, logic says I have 3 months to make amends!! I do remove the crust though. Padstow has several delis etc which offer a...

    Type 1 Vapes

I also vape, have done for several years. Has no impact on my sugars. If it helps, sweeteners used in vape juice are nearly always sucralose.

    Hba1C at 38 6 months after diagnosis

Congratulations and well done. I too dropped to 38 and my DNurse stopped my Metformin completely. I’m doing fine without it, my tummy is a lot happier. Have another bloods test in 3 months to see how I’m doing, hoping for another 38 without any meds. Keep doing what you’re doing

    Things I don't really understand.

Blimey that is cynical!! In her defence, she’s relatively new to our Surgery, ex chemo nurse. Has been really supportive and encouraging, is pleased to see someone actively try and get their numbers down. Not the norm she said sighing.

    Things I don't really understand.

Thank you for being patient with this wee fat middle aged diabetic who wants to be in remission "NOW" That made me smile. I was you 4 months ago, albeit a few years older.but just as impatient. Initial diagnosis was a big shock with hba1c of 87 Prescribed Dapagliflozin and Metformin. Bought...

Diarreaha is it caused by metformin or sugar being to high

Metformin also gave me horrendous toilet problems. Was lucky that I was always at home when it would happen, but that was more luck than judgement. Since I’ve stopped taking it my bowels are back to normal. I think your Diabetic Nurse is delusional, so many have problems with it.
