    Worried about cholesterol

If you had it done on the nhs then they probably didn’t do a full test/breakdown

Type 2 Dear GP, please don't weigh me before doing my BP.

The nhs thyroid test is very different to a private one which is more in-depth. When tested you get TSH, T4 total, free T4 and free T3. My doc said my thyroid was fine (went really hair loss) yet a private one said it was not and my T4 total was low. Might he worth getting it done elsewhere if...

Can anyone help shed some light on what's happening please!l?

Thanks @Jim Lahey. It sounds what I’m doing but sometimes I do snack but recently a bit off track and readings much higher. I normally have a blip from time to time but this has been since I did a 40hr fast. But frustrated. I think I need to be stricter and lower carbs to well under my current 20g.

    Flu and Pneumonia Jabs

I appreciate that but the OP implied he had to have it. I was just explaining it is a choice.

    ITV junk food experiment

No it wasn’t about carbs it is just the fact everything was calories and fat but no mention at all of carbs. A perfect time to educate was lost. I think I’m a bit sensitive in the fact I followed a Wholefoods plant based diet and am Slim yet succumbed to T2. One of the participants had T2 in the...

    ITV junk food experiment

Just finished watching and literally only one mention of carbs. So disappointing. I never ate junk food but still got T2 which although I followed a healthy plant based diet, it was heavier in low GI carbs.

    ITV junk food experiment

Anyone watched this. Just catching up on the 27th Feb with Michael Mosley. I’m halfway through and not a mention of carbs yet. Very disappointing and one of the “guinea pigs” has two parents with T2 Edited to add first (brief) mention of carbs was 43mins in.

Jim can you please run through how you did this and how long it too to show significant results. Thanks

    Flu and Pneumonia Jabs

Just to confirm, you don’t HAVE to have them. It is a choice and I’d recommend reading up about it before you have any jab/medication and make an informed decision. Never had one myself.

    Exercise does the trick

Walking works best for me. This morning dropped my level from a whopping 8.9 before breakfast (no idea why) of 2 eggs and after a 2 mile walk it was 6.6 2 hrs after eating.

Type 2 Ok so how would you deal with this?

Oh I don’t need to. I’ve been told that’s why they had heart attacks because they ate butter and full fat milk. She never tells me anything else about the diet. That is the only thing she thinks off. I reckon she ate more carbs for breakfast than I do in 10 days!! (Lucky her) I haven’t been to...

    I got carried away

I have just tried it. Vile chemical tasting stuff.

Can anyone help shed some light on what's happening please!l?

@Starfish18. It is hard not to panic. My Hba1c came down in three months but I still have really bad days. I’ve been up and down for three weeks now without having changed anything, and slightly worried but it’s happened before and I’m sure it will again. Just because you get some high readings...

My doctor is concerned about my mental state due to me starting LCHF

Personally I wouldn’t mention the fat bit in LCHF. Or if you do call the H healthy. I’d just say low carb not to freak the doc out. There are so many that still believe that fat is bad (although it would be in high carb high fat)

What do people think of this?

I eat 14 eggs a week and have done for a year. My recent tests show my cholesterol ratios are perfect.

Type 2 Ok so how would you deal with this?

The problem is that he doesn’t know the half of it. He has a lot going on so I don’t want to pile more on him. I will let him know if I have to.

Haha! Yes I think you’ve probably got that right. It is sometimes best to ignore and she won’t listen to reason as she is always right. Thanks. You sound like my sister! X
