    Flying with pump

The only other thing to add, is that during taking off and landing you might want to disconnect as the pressure changes causes either air bubbles (going up) or pushes extra insulin through (landing) causing you to hypo. Not fun when fighting for your luggage!

    Meet ups

How about Leeds? You should be able to get trains fairly easily from Sheffield and York if needed. Would that work for people?

What do you eat on basal testing days?

@Snapsy I can't believe how the 'correct' information changes so much depending on the person you are talking to. I have noticed that large amounts of protein affects me but I can get away with the odd egg here and there *starts daydreaming about a fry up...* I'm trying to get my basal set so...

What do you eat on basal testing days?

Well they said to split the day up in to sections like you said, I was just trying to take a shortcut and do it all in one go. I didn't realise the liver might kick in. But they said I would be ok to eat food that isn't carbohydrate like eggs and meat and things during the test. I want to do...

What do you eat on basal testing days?

Fair play. Interestingly is not what my DSN told me... Thanks for the advice :) Nomi

What do you eat on basal testing days?

Hi guys, I need to do some basal testing to make sure everything is doing what it should and I'm terrible at not eating, I usually graze all day long. Does anyone have any vaguely exciting no carb recipes hidden away? Thanks in advance! Nomi X

    Stuck in a bad web

@nessa1970 I just want to give you a really big hug! We all have bad times with this, you just need to focus on the small steps to take you in the right direction. I started skipping injections a few years ago. I still took the insulin but I just took more as one injection so I didn't have to...

    Sensitive skin

Hi @Skye's_mummy, I have a similar problem where the adhesive takes my skin off when I remove the dressing attached to my pump cannula. My DSN gave me a spray to put on before I stick it on. There are several different ones, but it did help. Hopefully something like that would work for you...

    Getting diagnosed

Hey, yeah, my mum diagnosed me! I was away at uni, sporadically visiting the parents. She saw the symptoms over the space of a few months and insisted I went to the dr. I thought I could explain away every single one... After much persuasion I rocked up and languidly explained to the GP that my...

    Meet ups

Hi all, I've seen posts about group meet ups with fellow diabetics and wondered if any were happening in the East Yorkshire area (or further afield)? Or if not, if anyone fancies starting one? Just thought it would be nice to chat to a group of people who can share their experiences, diabetic...

Air bubble problems ~ Insight pump.

I had a similar thing a while ago. I spoke to the manufacturer about it and they said its to do with the order you set the pump up. You need to put the vial in the slot first and then put the adaptor on it. I was putting the vial on the adaptor and putting that in the slot. Don't know why it...

Hiking With An Insulin Pump-experience With Altitude?

Hi all, I have always wanted to go to macchu pichu in Peru and want to start preparing myself for it with other hikes etc. If anyone has any experiences to share regarding long hikes and how they managed their BG that would be awesome :) I have the aviva insight pump, I don't know if it will...

    Hypo signs changed with pump

Hi guys, I have been on an insulin pump for the last year and I absolutely love it. I have noticed that my hypo symptoms have changed, has anyone else noticed this? I used to get the shakes when it started to crash (4.5mmol ish) but now I just go light headed and have flushes around 3 mmol ish...

How to do a basal check?

Hi guys, I've been on an insulin pump for a few months now and am trying to tweak my basal rates to get everything perfect. I love my pump, it's made such a huge difference to my control. I have been struggling to keep my BG within range overnight and BG testing has shown a steady increase in...

    Accu-chek 360 Software

Thanks for your replies! I love my pump, previous readings were always stuck between 12-15 mmol but now they're staying between 6 and 7. It's amazing the difference and I feel so much better in myself. I was nervous about having it attached all the time and where to store it but I barely even...

    Remote Slow

I find the same, it feels like i'm back on a 90's phone! I think the problem with the strips is that they are too flexible so its difficult to get them to point where you want. Hopefully they will update things so we don't have to wait a year to get a bolus!

    Accu-chek 360 Software

Hi guys, I recently got a pump and I think its fantastic. I was really apprehensive beforehand but now I have it i'm never giving it back! :D I want to tinker with my basal profiles but the Accu-chek 360 software I was given doesn't seem to let me? Does anyone know how to edit basal...

    Cycling to work

I'm not sure about the dawn phenomenon thing as I had a continuous BG monitor for a while and it showed my overnight/ morning levels were pretty stable. but that was before i started cycling. I read somewhere that if its high intensity exercise that can push BG levels up so maybe thats whats...
