    Blood Pressure?

it could do. Ideally bp is around 120/80. You need to see your doctor about it if that is a regular reading. See if he will do a 24 hour test which will tell him accurately how you are in different circumstances. A lot of people are 'white coat' - ie their bp goes up when done by an...

    Do Diabetics bruise more easily?

I rarely bruise - didn't even bruise when I broke my leg - I must have veins like iron, but last time I had a blood test it appeared that while the skin sealed the vein didn't and I got leaked blood under most of my lower arm giving me a 8" x5" bruise. Cheers Ailz

    Goodness me!

As I've just replied to the blog with: I hadn't heard of low carb dieting for diabetics before I came to this site. I'm old enough (56) and bright enough (just) to know to check things out and have - since joining this site - read umpteem diet books and diabetes books and now follow Viv's diet...

need info re BG levels. obesetype2 and low carbing

ketosis is when your body is caused when your body is burning fat rather than sugar. Going under about 20-30 carbs a day would do it. As long as you are 'feeding' your body - fat, protein, carbs - probably in that order you should be okay. If you get any symptoms of a hypo - which is when - I...

need info re BG levels. obesetype2 and low carbing

If it drops below 4 then you're probably very hungry and late with eating. Try to eat regularly - don't let yourself get 'starving' or you'll eat something sugary just to bring your bg back up - which fires off insulin - drops your bg and you're back needing to eat. Eat 3 meals a day with 2...

need info re BG levels. obesetype2 and low carbing

Hi, I'm reading Natural Health & Weight Loss by Barry Groves. He recommends 50-60 grams of carbs a day and the cheapest meats you can buy - usually the fattiest and offal. He even suggests that you should ask for a discount on meat that is really, really fatty in the butchers - just no...

    Tiredness?

I am also 15 st 12lbs - down nearly a stone in a month or so due to low- carbing. The weight loss -I've dieted for most of my adult life and had given it up - is a side effect of trying to get my blood glucose in order. I have fibromyalgia, hypertension, diabetes type 2, of course, and sundry...

    Breads

I was eating 2 slices of Burgen Soya and Linseed a day on a reduced carb diet and went from losing 0/5 kilo a week to putting weight on. Reading around the subject on the web I think it could be the Soya that caused it. I'm now eating German Rye Bread. Ailz

    same food, 2 different reading!!??

This is a problem with food values. 2 oats, 2 tomatoes - 2 anything - may look identical but don't necessarily have the same calorie, carb etc., content. The oats could be from different sources and have different values - and so can the blueberries. I've been amazed on reading round this...

    So Large Wholemeal bap test

Had one of these burgers yesterday for lunch. So very tasty. No bread, unfortunately, but the burger itself was worthy of being eaten alone. I'm going to try it with different types of mince too - except beef as I'm allergic to beef (sob) Thanks for the recipe Cheers Ailz

    Everyone to go onto Metaformin?

I'm happy to take my Metformin, but I've stopped taking my statins. I did a lot of reading about them and decided that they do more harm than good IMHO. I, with my doctor's permission, also stopped taking aspirin, don't know yet what he'll say about the statin. Ailz

    So Large Wholemeal bap test

Re: So Large Wholeweat bap test Sounds good. I'd like your turkey burger recipe. Carbs are supposed to not be as bad if you have plenty of protein with them - which it sounds like you did. Cheers Ailz

    KLF14

I wonder what is the real cause. Some say diabetes and pre-diabetes causes obesity, some say the other way round. Is it food choices? Most , not all, get our food choices from our parents - and back through the generations. My father was in the RAF police between 1947 & 9 and learned to...

    Stevia sweetener...

The 'new' adulterated Stevias are why I was recommended to buy green stevia. It looks a bit funny put this green 'dust' in drinks and cakes but it comes from the leaf of the stevia plant and tastes okay Cheers Ailz
