    I've got Lidl rolls

I was offered some uncooked Tuesday when I rushed to our local one. Managed to bag a fair few for the freezer so was happy. Might go back down later to have another look later. I had rang them the day before and was told they were changing suppliers, others have had different replies now I’ve...

    Help I can’t lose weight

I’m sorry but that is wrong on so many levels. Your 200g carb meal and a 20 shot is absolutely mental. That’s roughly a full on Indian/Chinese take out with all the trimmings or a large portion of fish and chips. Which would make most type 1’s sugars spike into the high teens, even with that...

    Help I can’t lose weight

Novorapid will work, you just have to split the dose. Because it works so quickly you may also get hypos before it’s even got to the protein digesting. In fact you may find it’s run it’s course before your body has even started to digest the protein. That’s the spike that was mentioned before by...

    Help I can’t lose weight

I was using lantus and novorapid, it was difficult as I needed to split the novorapid to cover the protein. In the absence of carbs protein does raise your blood sugar. So does fat in the form of what comes from the truffles I mentioned earlier. Too many before bed without insulin to cover and...

    Help I can’t lose weight

It’s not Keto, don’t get the two confused. A lot of type 2 benefit from going Keto. We rely on protein for fuel on our low carb lifestyle As shell mentioned above chocolate is good for the soul. I’ve found a great low carb one. It’s calked Montezuma 100% cocoa. 8g per 100g no sugar added...

    Help I can’t lose weight

It’s called low carb high protein by doctor Bernstein but its not essentially a diet as it’s a sustainable lifestyle with added benefit of loosing weight if you have any to loose. It makes life a whole lot easier being diabetic too once you get your head round it. For my omelette in the...

    Help I can’t lose weight

It’s difficult to get your head round at first. 12g carb salad would need either 1 unit of insulin or 1.5 depending on your carb/insulin ratio. Then for the protein is estimated at 0.5 units per 25g. So 100g protein with your meal would be 2 units plus say 1.5 for the 12g salad. Very low dose...

    Help I can’t lose weight

I am a type one and follow a very low carb lifestyle. I consume around 26g a day. I now use humulin s to cover my meals. I still have my novorapid for corrections. You only need to eat carbs to get the nutrients your body needs. This include all the low carb green veggies like broccoli...

Low Carb, Low Sugar Meal Replacement Shakes

I wouldn’t suggest any shakes as a type one. They would metabolise quite quickly. Even low carb ones would have quicker absorbing protein which will eventually spike sugars without enough insulin to cover. Have you given dr Bernstein’s approach a go? There’s no need to skip anything or replace...

    LIdl Rolls

A tweet and a post on Lidl’s Facebook page, saying how important they are to diabetics. I can bake but to remake these and at 29p each would be a bit of a chore. If it’s at all possible, anything like the ingredients in these aren’t cheap.

    LIdl Rolls

Just got off the phone. Apparently they are changing supplier and they could be out of stock for a few weeks. This happened with the Apple turnovers as well she said and took a few weeks to get them back in stock. I did try and ask who supplies them, I may dig round the net to see if they say...

    MyFitnessPal carb counts

I always find things like cauliflower and broccoli are best using your own input as many different shop brands have completely different values, I suppose that depends on the variety used. Cauliflower examples per 100g Sainsbury’s fresh comes in around 4g Lidl fresh is around 3g Coop frozen 3g...

Baking with coconut flour and almond flour

I thought it wa an old blog, I’m sure last post was 2016. If @ewelina sees this, your recipes are fab, I first tried your velvet cake as had tried numerous other sponges using the dreaded coconut flour. Haha!! Then I found your recipe using almond. I’ve been playing with the no added sugar...
