    60kg Overweight

I am a member at slimming world and I am type one and it works well for me. I do have both a pump and a libre which means that I can adjust my insulin quickly to match my needs. It's very flexible, it's totally incorrect to think that you have to stuff your face with pasta and carbs all day...

    Slimming World With T1 Partner

I follow slimming world and I have T1D, but it's just normal food, so my whole family eat that way. I don't eat a huge amount of carbs, and I don't eat pasta and bread at all, but I make lots of curries, chilli, roast dinners, steak etc. My husband and kids might have pitta bread with their...

    Upcoming Holidays Abroad

I have a 640g and I have just flown through Crete (Iraklion not Hania), I don't think that they have full body scanners - at least not in the gates that you have to go through if you are flying outwith the Schengen area - just the metal detector arches. I did set this off though and they just...

Heathrow and the Pump interrogations and scaners and xray machines!!!!!

don't think anyone has any issue with getting their pump swabbed, the problem is if they try to make your pump go through either the xray machine or the full body scanner. The manufacturer of my pump says these machines may cause the pump to malfunction, and possibly give you far too much...

    Plan 'B' for pump issues?

My daily kit has insulin vial, mio, reservoir, pump clip, and battery. Also syringes which saves me carrying pens around. I have two monitors anyway as I have libre (with blood and ketones strips also) and contour next. If going away overnight or longer I take also insulin pens and needles...

    Fiasp: my experience

Fiasp works well for me so far - have been pumping with it for about 8 or 9 months now - definitely helps my after meal spikes. I did get some sore cannula sites but this seems to have calmed down recently. Before fiasp I was pumping humalog.

    ADVICE WANTED..... where to wear?!??

I wear a soft crop type bra and it fits down the middle perfectly - you wouldn't notice it at all.

Where to put a pump as a woman??

I wear my 640g in a childs sock and then shoved down the middle of my bra, I wear crop top, sports type bras and this works really well, it's not at all visible. Or I wear in a pump belt - if I push this up to right under my bra it's also hardly visible. Once you are attached to it you will...

    Libre on NHS

I am in Lothian also and received a letter at the weekend. I believe I fit the eligibility criteria, and will be going on the training session in March. (Eligibility criteria are on MDI or pump, and have been on DAFNE or similar, and agree to share info with HCPs).

    Strange colouring in the tube?

It's normal. My DSN told me it's because the tube is actually two tubes one inside the other and you get the white marks where the inner tube sticks to the outer tube.

When I fly with Easyjet, hand luggage only I take an extra medical bag. Easyjet only allow you one bag so you can't have any handbag etc only your small suitcase, so I take an extra 18L rucksack with my pump supplies in, at the desk I just tell them it's a medical bag, and it's no problem...

    Pump Etiquette

I keep mine in a sock in the middle of my bra, I usually wear a top that is cut low enough so I can just stick my hand in and whip it out and bolus as required. Most people don't even notice, friends are always asking me if I shouldn't be testing my blood sugar / taking some insulin when I've...

    Type 1 Breakfast

I'm on a pump so my basal just runs in as normal, if I don't eat , it's fine, if I eat its not no matter what I bolus - I've tried all sorts of bolus tweaks along with my DSN's and I decided it just isn't worth eating in the morning - if I wait until lunchtime my BGL stays almost flat. I have...

    Type 1 Breakfast

Yep, me also. I have just given up on breakfast, as any carbs just sends me high no matter how much insulin I take, and I just can't face eggs or anything like that. So I just have a cup of coffee and then drink water until lunch time and my BGL is totally fine. Breakfast is just too much...

Do you people get all your diabetes stuff for nothing?

Sorry, off topic I know but I have to address this comment. The reason for this is that the Scottish Government decide how they should spend Scottish taxpayers money. And the Scottish electorate voted in a government that was elected on promises to keep prescriptions free and education free...

After flying all over the US, a problematic Manchester airport experience.

Edinburgh Airport say this:- Medical Devices and Assistance We will never ask you to remove a diabetic pump or a stoma, however they may need to be checked, most often with the use of explosive trace detection equipment. In the interest of customer discretion, this process can be carried out in...

How long did you take off?

I took two weeks and 1 day. I started on a Tuesday with a full day session was told to take the rest of that week off as had to take phone calls and go back again on Thursday and maybe Friday. My DSN said it would be as mentally exhausting as when you were first diagnosed. Also I was taking...
