    Levels rose in the night!

Re: Levels rose in the night! I wouldn't worry too much. What were your levels in the morning and during the day? Remember to look for trends rather than one offs.

    driving abroad

Hi. I've been stopped by American police, Canadian police, Trinidad police, Guyanese police and some European police all have asked to see my licence and never had a problem. I think some car hire companies will increase the bill if using insulin. Tempting to keep quiet about the when booking...

    Reusing needles

I don't reuse needles and lancets to save NHS money. I do it because it's easier. Pen in pocket (with needle always attached) and some fast acting glucose and I'm good to go.

    Reusing needles

Change needles when they start to feel blunt, usually 2 or 3 per 3ml cartridge, and lancets when they hurt. Not sure how many I get but it's the Accu Check Multiclix 6 and I will get weeks out of that.

Hi Gwenmai. My moods change with blood sugar level too. When high I feel angry and snappy, my mind stuck in brain fog, feeling sorry for myself. Beware of draught drinks in pubs etc

Many bar staff just don't care, I always check a sample with my BG meter. Remember to delete or otherwise note the reading. LO, LO followed by HI raises the Docs eyebrows at review time.

    Help

When I worked in the tropical heat I had to make sure I took a little extra salt. I would get terrible cramps starting in my lower legs working upwards. Eating something salty always cured it within minutes.

    Lantus ?

Before taking Levemir I used Lantus and split the dose 50/50 twelve hours apart. In my opinion Levemir is better which I also split in the same manner. Glen.

    Morning headache

I wake with terrible headaches which I suspect is related to a night time hypo. I find the only thing that helps is a coffee and ibuprofen, otherwise I'm stuck with the headache all day. Cheers. Glen.

Hi. I switched from Lantus to Levemir a few years ago as I was having similar problems. Works much better for me and it doesn't sting when injecting. Regards. Glen.

Think nearly all insulin is the same strength 100U/ml you can check on the side of the vial or cartridge.

    Novotel echo

Just got a couple of Novopen Echos myself. They take the same 3ml cartridge that all my other Novopens use.

What's the best way to bring insulin when traveling?

Yep the firo bags are excellent. Try and keep them in the shade with a breeze over it which helps the water evaporate and they'll stay quite cool.

    Insulinx

A good meter. I don't use the rapid insulin calculator much but love the port light for testing in the dark. Also its only needs a tiny sample of blood. Glen
