    Daily Carb Consumption

I don't really aim for anything specific. I'd say I'm probably around 100-150g a day.

    Type 1 and anger

I get that sometimes, but it's not linked to my BG levels. Although according to my mum I've always had it so I think it's just how I am

    pizza :(

No doubt you're right! I don't eat porridge enough to to through the trouble of making it all myself. I've moved over to Greek yoghurt and blueberries with a little granola, much more palatable to me than sticky porridge

    pizza :(

I've found that the protein porridge (I tried the Quaker instant one) doesn't spike my BG at all! I've tried normal porridge before and it's been awful, but this stuff kept me perfectly flat. Must be slower releasing.

    pizza :(

This is when your defeatist attitude really starts to wind me up. If you can find a way to enjoy pizza while keeping your levels in check (which people are managing by using the methods mentioned above), then no horrible things will happen. Duhhh? But hey, you do you. If you don't want to eat...

    funny sugar level

Yes, I constantly feel like I'm chasing my tail with it. It seems to come in waves and has no explanation. Some days are great, other days I can inject what I want but my levels will keep being/going high for no explicable reason and it feels out of my control.

    pizza :(

I don't seem to have problems with pizza either (including takeaway). I do, however, get messed up massively by pasta bake! And carbonara, and Shepherd's pie.

I think I've become one of those annoying people that are always ill.

I was LITERALLY ranting about the same thing earlier today! I've been diabetic for 15 years and have always been in great health otherwise, but this year (as in winter 17/18) I have been nothing but sick! I've had 3 colds since November, all of which were accompanied by fevers and I've had to...

    WHY AM I HIGH???

I'm probably one of the few who has been on a pump but decided to go back to MDI. For me, the inability to exercise without either drinking Lucozade by the bottle or having to faff around with temporary basals two hours before even thinking of doing anything just wasn't worth it. Now I'm on MDI...

    Disposable pen alternatives

Yes, I used both Novorapid and Levemir in penfills. They come in a packet of 5 vials and you just pop them into a refillable pen (as @jadeashton24 said, they come in a 1u or 0.5u version, I have the 1u one for Levemir and the 0.5u one for Novorapid). I was changed from Levemir to Tresiba a...

Does anyone have a list of 1 aday long lasting insulins?

Why would it not? I'm very active and haven't had issues with either Levemir or Tresiba. I can exercise with no Novorapid active and stay perfectly stable throughout

Does anyone have a list of 1 aday long lasting insulins?

Don't know about Toujeo, but I've just been moved from Levemir to Tresiba and it's been going really well. There's no spikes at times when the previous dose might be wearing off, just all nice and flat. No stinging, and only 1 shot a day instead of two like I did on Levemir. I feel like it's...

    Splitting lantus

I know you'd rather not, but I really do think you should get yourself onto a different basal insulin. No insulin should be making you feel this way or deteriorating your standard of life to such an extent. I never had these issues with Lantus (apart from the very painful injections) but have...

    Basal tweaking issue (Levemir)

Slowly getting there (I think). I was started on 22u of Tresiba (previously on a total of 26u of Levemir split) but reduced it to 20u two days ago because I kept dropping a lot overnight. I'll see how I get on tonight but it's still dropping by around 3mmol overnight so I'll probably end up on...

Why has 12u of NovoRapid and 20g of carbs not lowered my BG?

That's such a good description! Mine definitely seems to come in cycles. I do the same things and some days are perfect and I won't even spike after meals, then other days I can't keep them up or down! They don't seem to be regular enough to blame on female hormones though.

    Lantus to tresiba/degludec

Thanks, I am aware of that and that's what I meant by next few days sorry if I was unclear :)

    Lantus to tresiba/degludec

I was put on Tresiba yesterday and was told to take a lower dose because people tend to need less degludec than Lantus/Levemir. I was on 26u Levemir and have started on 22u Tresiba. I'll be doing some basal testing over the next few days to see if it needs tweaking.

Why has 12u of NovoRapid and 20g of carbs not lowered my BG?

I do have some days where my blood sugar will go up to around 11/12 (always those numbers!) and no matter what I do, it won't budge! I haven't been able to figure out why. Sometimes it lasts hours, sometimes days, but sooner or later it always goes back to normal as suddenly as it came on
